Apologies to everyone, looks like i should post my offer somewhere else.

Hello Phil,

Why the apologies?  I for one would be very grateful for any assistance with updating my 61 plate sat navigation,  it's the first of face lifts. I've given up looking for an update on a USB,  they seem to cost a ridiculous amount.  Also heard horror stories of them not uploading correctly.

Any info or assistance would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

Welcome to the club, Paul.

I used that company fo my 2012 disc.  Just a pity that they do not make newer discs for the S Type. I do like the s type system.

My two sons and my son in law all use Google Maps to navigate.

Regards,

Peter.

I have just updated my 2012MY XF using the extortionate USB stick from Jaguar Navigation, the update took 2 hours 55 minutes and then a further 15 minutes before the screen actually displayed the maps. Apart from being ridiculously expensive, I am rather miffed to find that when I check the map version in the diagnostic screen, the middle two digits are “16”, suggesting that the mapping is already two years out of date. The update is listed as 2017 and costs £174 inc. P&P,

(below text copied from Jaguar Navigation Web Site)

GEN2.1Jaguar Gen2.1 HDD Europe 2017

Part number T1000-25005

this to me is very misleading and possibly violates the Trade Descriptions Act. I have written to Jaguar Navigation asking them to explain the anomaly, I will post their answer when (or if) they respond.

Does anyone know when the maps will be  updated to 2018 for the USB option? I've just acquired my 2013 XF, and am looking to update, but I'm loathe to pay out £100+ for an update that is already out of date, and may well be replaced with a newer version in a matter of weeks...!

I made the decision to update my sat nav and forked out £174 for the “2017” upgrade. The upgrade went fairly well, took 2 hours 55 minutes spread over a few  journeys, however, the mapping is not 2017, it is actually the last quarter of 2015 according to Jaguar Navigation. When I checked the version through the diagnostics screen, it is identified as “xx-16-xx, indicating that the mapping is 2016, principally two years out of date. I complained to Jaguar Navigation that I had been mislead by the listing description but they seem to have ignored my message.

I am more than a little !Removed! off, I certainly wouldn’t have bought it, in my opinion, £174 for old maps is a complete rip off and I wonder if there is any legal recourse I could take for misrepresentation?

Hi Mike,

I would be inclined to take the matter up with Jaguar Navigation again and in writing.  Certainly if the update was sold as the "2017" upgrade I think the Trades Description legislation would be in force.

I would also suggest that you tell them that unless you get a reply within 10 working days you will seek legal advice.

Let us know how you get on.

Regards,

Peter.

If Jaguar Navigation are not responding, or giving a reasonable response, go to the Jaguar Cars Customer Relationship Centre at Head Office, Whitley, Coventry.

Email:   jagcrc@jaguarlandrover.com

Cheers,

Graham.

Following my complaint regarding the date and age of the available map upgrade on the Jaguar web site, I have had a further response from Jaguar EMEA Web Store customer services saying that my “enquiry” had been passed to “the appropriate” department, that was 12 days ago and I haven’t had a response yet.

I will report back if and when I get a reply, if I don’t get a reply, I will need to escalate the issue and take further advice.

Mike

I would keep the correspondence going by writing a letter asking which was the "appropriate department" that your "enquiry" aka complaint had been sent to.

It is known as giving "pain and suffering"  to what is known as the "Respondent"

It's a little late to be reporting back on this saga, but just to bring you all up to date, the EU Webstore that sell these updates eventually got back yo me offering a refund on receipt of the returned upgrade package. I accepted their offer although it cost me £13 to send it back tracked and registered. I was refunded the original purchase price plus P&P but not what it cost me to send it back. I suppose it was a fairly satisfactory result, but I would rather have had a full installation of the 2017 mapping, which is what I thought I was buying.

I think this should be a warning to any other members thinking of upgrading, what you see on their web site is not what you get and at £174 it is a costly mistake. I have just checked the web site to see if there is any information about the age of the maps but they are still being described as 2017.

Yes Old Pete, I had the same issue with my 2006 S Type, the latest maps are onlY up to 2012, I have the ISO for this which I burned to a DVD, worked fine and was still in the car when I traded it in for the XF.

Hi Mike,

Not a bad result in all. My s type Sat Nav is at its limit -- no more discs made after 2012, and if I need to I use Google Maps on my iPhone which is always updated.

Regards,

Peter.

Hi Guys just to put my pennyworth in, i recently had to go from Stoke on Trent to Norwich to see my kids, i have had my 2017 Jaguar 2 months and uploaded the latest maps which thankfully i did not have to pay for as the warranty is still on the car. bearing in mind i also have my wife's SEAT Ibiza with a tom tom and the new junctions between the M6/M1 junction are up to date and also the new northern distributor duel carriageway around Norwich are up to date and have been for the last 9 months. when i updated my Jag they still have not got the new roads on them, how far behind is the company who updates these and if i had paid £160+ for the update i would have been very angry. When i bought my jag on retirement i thought i was buying a classy car but things like this lets Jaguar down. love the car but wish i had bought the C class Merc i was also looking at.
