Morning everyone, I'v just been browsing the forum and it looks great!

I am looking to get my first Jag, but not sure which one..

S-Type 2.7D Auto 2004/5

or

X-Type 2.0D Auto

I will have a budget of about 3.5K which means a high mileage car, but cant find an X at all for that money:( when did they start doing the X-Type diesel Auto

Hi Reg, welcome to the JOC. The choice of model is purely a personal one, for me it is the S-Type which I think has all the classic Jaguar looks. With £3.5K to spend you should get a decent car, don't be afraid to look at older models there are some really good buys out there. I paid £2950 in June 2012 for an 02 reg. 3 litre petrol S-Type with 60K on the clock, full service history (the first eight years of which were done by Jaguar) previous MOTs, receipts for tyres, work done etc. and it is in immaculate condition, I took my time locating the right car and didn't rush in to buying the first one I saw. I suggest you do the same, use the internet that is where I found mine from, there are many cars to be seen on there from all over the country and you can set a search radius for the distance you are prepared to go to look at a car. As I said earlier the choice of model is down to you, whatever takes your fancy and is good value for your money, good luck in your quest to find your Jaguar and let us know when you do and what it is. Best wishes Geoff.

OK, change of plan from diesel, well change of a few things really.

It is now .... Hello from Burgh Castle in Great Yarmouth ...

AND I got myself an S-Type last Saturday as an early Birthday pressie  :D AND I AM LOVING IT

I decided on a 3.0 petrol in the end as I now live a lot closer to work, and I am not doing as many miles as I was.

She is a 2001 (May) SE in Saphire Blue and Beige leather interior, and considering she is gonna be a teenager in a couple of months she is in very good condition.

She has spent a few years in Dereham, Norfolk until recently. I have her booked in for a mini service next week, Oil and filter and check the brakes, stuff I can't do  :(

As I have never had a Jag before, or even a 3.0 Lt engined car, there are 1 or 2 things I am not sure about, but they don't feel/appear to be urgent.

Does the club have any meets around the Norfolk/Suffolk area, I was hoping there might be, where I could go along and get some advice from the experts  :)

I will have a go at posting a photo when I find out how.

Hi Reg

Probably a wise choice if you are not doing long trips --  no diesel particulates filter to regenerate, and you can't do a burn up on the motorway once a month, living in Norfolk as you do.

While the S Type can go like a sports car, it can also be rather sedate, and I am sure you will enjoy it.

Regards,

Peter.

Hi Reg,glad to hear you have got your Jag at last, it sounds like a good one, I said last October to take your time selecting a car and it appears you have and it has paid off. Now you have it treasure it and enjoy it, all the best mate, regards Geoff.

Thanks guys, Yes peter,  I am rather enjoying my sedate drives around Norfolk  :) Thanks for the advise Geoff,  I'm glad I took my time choosing, until I found the one I wanted, local too.
