Scuffed alloys

Hi All,

I don't believe I have just scuffed my front near side alloy! Dam it ! That's normally the wife's job !! Has anyone used, are is using Rimblades, Halfords have them for £30 set of four, but what are they like in the real world.

I am also interested in the answers to this question.  I have 18" alloys and they are a bit scuffed by a previous owner.  I have thought about a refurb and the cost for that is about £75 a wheel.  And there are two bad scuffs.

 

I have had a look at Rimblades which could cover the damage which is all on the rims.  There are mixed reviews, although to be fair some users have not followed the instructions.

 

I use Halfords for Tyre replacements and I might try them when I need to replace my current tyres, so it would be interesting to get some user reviews.

Nice to hear from you again, to be honest Peter I didn't even know that such a thing was on the market until yesterday ! So will be very interesting to see the response.

Going to pop into Halfords and have a play with set see what there like.

I have just coincidentally had a good look at my wheels, and to be quite honest it is not worth spending £300 on them as the scuffs are on the rim and those rim covers appear that they will disguise them adequately.

 

When my wife goes into Boots and M&S I always go into Halfords which is only 200 yards away and mooch around for 45 minutes and see what is going on in there.

 

I will have some fitted when I come to change the tyres, as these days I don't feel like changing tyres myself.

Interesting topic, as yesterday, getting out of the way of a police car with all lights flashing, I scuffed my nearside front alloy.  The good news is that it wa just the rime that was scuffed, it was the only wheel that had ever been really scuffed, and it was over the previous scuff.

 

Rimblades will do the job!

hi david. im a newbie. was thinking of getting myself a set of rimblades. i had went onto youtube the other day and watched vidieos of other simuilar products and thought that rimblades were the easyiest to fit. as i have two wheels that are scuffed and it costs £50 to get them mended so im going to buy myself a set cheers charlie57

hi peter. if you click onto youtube and type in rimblades you will find a video of how to put them on your tyres. thats what i did. it looks quite easy. my local halfords have none in stock , tryed today sunday. will order my self a set later in the week. charlie

I have previously used Alloygators, long hard job to fit but first set did the trick, 2nd set were new improved version but still hard to fit, one decided to break loose on the motorway and thrashed around wing, all removed at that stage. Fitting a set of Rimblades this weekend so will let you know how I go on.

hi david. its worth wile looking at this product called trims4rimes made by rimblades, same kind of product wich is basicly a spongie tape that you stick to the wheel rims. i got a set on eBay 20quid wer as rimblades are 30quid from hallfords. it says on the box to fit them on a nice day at 20deg celcius. as i live in south west scotland i will have to wait till june or july lol. so will try one dry day next week using the extention cable and the wifes hair dryer see if that works. cheers charlie

Less than an hour from start to finish and impressed with the Rimblades, straightforward to fit and did use hairdryer and extension lead. Given my unerring ability to kerb

my wheels it will be interesting to see how they bear up. I will let you know.

hi david. i bought the trim4rims made by rimblades on ebay£20. weras rimblades wer £39.99 at halfords so half price same product. ie its a stickey tape you put on the rims. started it this affo. jacked up the car took the front wheel off got it done again same as you using extenttion and wifes hairdryer. going over it bit at time then aplling pressure to it took my time had to bring the last one into the kitchen table as it had started raining but got them all done and im knackerd. the last wheel was a bugger to get back on. it says on inst. avoid high speed for 72hrs so will see how they go . have you fitted your rimblades and are they still on.
