Hi Trevor,

You're right, it's only a tonne and three quarters  :)  You should be fine!

Update on the buying front:- I went to look at another 3 today, unfortunately not bought one yet as I am torn between two, however I drove one for the first time and am absolutely loving the 3.0l V6 power plant!!! I was somewhat taken aback by the performance and can't wait to be a "S" Type owner!! Got to make up my mind by Friday as I want one for next weekend. Fingers crossed!!

That's looking good, Josh.  Driving a Jaguar is an experience.

With a full tank of petrol it would reach two tonnes, though!

I hope it is not too wet tomorrow,Josh, so that you can have a good test of the S Type you choose.

make sure you do part of the test drive over rough roads, and listen out for any thuds. it will more then likely, be anti roll bar bush front or rear.

Enjoy you test drive.

I have just done something, Josh, that you will be able to do tomorrow.

We had a deluge this morning followed by quite a lot of snow.  After lunch the sun came out and it became a lovely bright day.

My son wanted me to drive over to advise on his new allotment, so I did.

This is the bit you can do tomorrow.

Get the Jaguar off the drive and press the "S" button if auto, and get on to a nice stretch of dual carriageway [A38 to Lichfield, in my case.  Let the big cat have its head, without breaking the speed limit, of course, and enjoy.

The car really likes to be driven rather than to cruise sedately, and with the diesel you have to get the second turbocharger into action at 2,000 revs..

Look forward to that!!

Peter.

It is never not wet in the West Country.

Isn't that half right Trevor?! Can't wait for the summer, the rain gets warmer.

Many thanks to Kevin as well for the video, most informative.

Hi a couple of common problems are the heater control valve sticks giving cold air and the drivers door lock actuator often fails both are relatively cheap to fix

Got a 1999 3 litre se on a t plate and it puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it . I bought it 2 years ago for £1800 with 36000 miles and full jag history . Watch out for ball joints and rear stabilizing bars failing . I had water in the boot and solved it by pulling the rubber off and putting in some thin draught excluder from a diy store under the rubber which solved the problem and a lot cheaper than new rubbers . It also came with satnav ,rear electric blind ,sunroof ,electric everything ,memory seats ,dual zone climate control, cruise control etc . Make sure you get one with all the toys and check they all work . If you get one with satnav you can't get an up to date if it's pre 2003 . I wouldn't swap the car for anything as you will find out about how great you feel driving it oh and by the way the sports button is addictive.

Sounds great MJR.

That sports button is brilliant, especially in a diesel when the twin turbos show what they are for.

Hi all!!

The BMW is quite good fun with traction control off, so can only imagine what its like in a Jaguar!! You may be pleased to know that, all things being well, I get a 2002 3.0l SE auto tomorrow!! Fingers crossed and will update soon. Hope you're drying out successfully Trevor and you haven' been affected to bad by the floods.

Regards

Josh
