I pressed the valet switch, would not pop back out, the boot will not open, electric windows do not work and also no central locking. I have removed valet switch, boot now works but windows and central locking still not operating. Has anyone else had this problem. ? It is not the fuses ,does any one know where to buy a new valet switch.?

George,

Just out  of interest try another battery, a lot of these strange electrical happenings seem to be related to a poor or failing battery .

Welcome to the Club, George.

I think Trevor could well be right.  Jaguars have a lot of electricity flowing around in them, but they are intelligent enough to shut down certain things that they do not think  important when the electricity supply is reduced.

Charles,

" A neat little feature is the ability to put the onboard computer into Valet mode. Should you need to hand the keys over to a complete
stranger, just select an easy-to-remember four-digit password, and it renders the touch screen useless until the correct code has been
reentered; just an extra security measure should you want to keep stored information, such as your home address, private."

There appears not to be a valet mode on the S type, which seems to indicate that S type owners never allow a stranger [not even a perfect one] to touch his or her Jaguar!

Aye, but as Yorkshiremen say "Us do it reet in Yorkshire"

I was down Sarf at the weekend and on Sunday it took an hour and a half to drive the 14 miles from Brockley to Brent Cross, and two hours to drive the 110 miles from the start of the M1 to Sutton Coldfield.

I switched on the SatNav and told it to go home, and the question popped up "Castle Bromwich or Sutton Coldfield?"

Peter,

It was the same when I was driving up North the Thursday before good Friday , the M5 was more like a car park ! Why on earth would you want to go to Brent Cross anyhow young Man? , and I thought Brockley was a vegetable !

We went to London to visit our daughter, and on the way down, crossing the river by the Blackwall Tunnell my mpg was 41.8.  Coming back via the Old Kent Road and the City, my mpg was 36.2.  The difference was caused by the City, which was packed.   The MI was surprisingly clear and I drove at circa 75 mph.

I could notice the difference in performance, and the mpg going down to London was good, considering we were on minor suburban roads for the last 10 miles.

The next fill up will be Sainsburys in Tamworth, as I have a voucher for 10p a litre off.  [The offer runs out on Wednesday.]

Peter,

Been told by various mechanics not to use supermarket fuel as it is inferior, so for the sake of a few pence I don't, not that i'd do a 34 mile round trip to the nearest one that does it.

Don't really bother about MPG, but in comparison to the Aston the Supersport is frugal !

My daughter lives in Croydon for reasons only known to her, after being brought up on the edge of Exmoor , think it might have something to do with her in laws being multi millionaires , who live at the bottom of her garden.

Croydon is shocking ! when I go down I make them drive to Guildford to met us, and she drives a Ford Focus, which is not very fitting for a Doctor !
