I refuse to park my car in a parking bay properly as every time I do someone parks next to it and opens their door into it and dents it.

I stopped parking properly a few years ago when I had a mint Vectra V6 and continue to this day.

I'm not inconsiderate with it though. In a busy carpark I will park further away if necessary so that I leave spaces available nearer to the store or I'll find an end spot and overhang the end a bit etc.

So you can imaging how p***ed off I was yesterday when I found this on my drivers door!

I despise these inconsiderate idiots! Really good job I wasn't there when they did it!

You are quite right, Mick.

I bought a Rover Sterling in 2000, just 8 months old, a beautiful car with the 2.5 litre K series engine.  Within a month I had a smashed year light, trolley bashed, and 5 door dents all obtained in car parks.  I kept the car for 11 years till 122k on the clock.  The worst incident was when I was parked on the road side while I gave my driveway a good brushing  and her next door smacked the front bumper with her green mondeo, leaving a large amount of paint on my bumper and an 8 inch dent in her door.  She couldn't see me because of the hedge but the impact was loud enough.  She got out, looked at it then went inside without mentioning it to me.  Her car disappeared for two days and came back undented.  The green paint remained on my car so that all the other neighbours could see it.

I do the same as you in car parks.

Regards,

Peter.

I am afraid to say that there are not many considerate drivers around these days, either parking or driving. I always acknowledge a driver giving way to me on the odd occasion that they do. but it rarely happens the other way round. I keep telling myself it is the world we live in these days. Still say it costs nothing to be polite.  Unfortunately car park spaces are not big enough for our cats.

I try to park like yourself these days.

I too have had the dreaded dings and bashes in car parks. I have lost count of the amount of scrapes on various cars over the years, the worst being a van reversing into a Mondeo I have recently sold on the car park at work, £1600 worth of damage but the bloke did have the decency to come to the main office and admit to his mistake.

Like the others above I park as far from the store, and therefore everyone else, to minimise damage and have done this for some time what ever car I am driving.

Thanks to all the lazy shoppers as this gives us more room for our big cats, and the wife's Saab 93 'vert

Rant over

My wife has a 93 too! Diesel though and hard top. Have managed to get her to be a little more careful where she parks it and so far so good. Her last car was splattered in dents!

Hi Mick....that sucks! Completely agree with you, I have 3 dinks down the side of my x type thanks to these morons! Shame they don't make spaces wider but then they couldn't make so much money as they cram us in like we all own sodding smartcars!

long gone are the days of motoring courtesy when you would leave a note on the car saying sorry I'll pay for it! Ha!

This is one thing which really makes my blood boil.I park at the furthers part of car park. I try to get an end spot, but if not available I will take 2 spaces. My car is a XJ long wheel base and does not fit normal sized bays. Often on return (which is never long, as I hate leaving my car unattended ) I find some idiot has not left me enough room to get into my car. If I had seen someone do this to anyone's car, There would be hell to pay. We should start a movement. William

You and me both William. My blood positively overheated and pressurised on Saturday.

Luckily though, I spent 10 minutes today, in the rain, with some T-Cut and it's gone completely.

Never been one for vigilantism but I'll make an exception for these inconsiderate !Removed!!

Some years ago, I stopped at a Little Chef on the way to the Channel Tunnel very early on a Sunday morning, the carpark was huge and empty. When I came out after breakfast, a French car had parked so close to me that the only way into my car was through the passenger door. Mine and the French moron's car were the only two cars in the carpark!

That is typical, Graham.  For some unknown reason, certain people think that parking  a car next to another cat leaves more space in a car park.  The French, when they are not waving a White Flag, do very odd things.

I feel your pain! I have had so many touch ups and resprays over the years on my cars, I hate to think how much I have spent. Only this Wednesday, I have had the police around to document damage and get a crime ref number as my work VW Transporter van has been keyed all down the passenger side door. I try to park in a considerate manner all the time and leave everyone plenty of room. My MR2 Turbo has had a full respray and my X Type is minty clean, if they get touched I`ll be tearing my hair out.lol.
