Got a call from the dealer that the car would be available from about 5pm today, so off we trundled to collect it.

We are both happy bunnies, it drives lovely, never driven anything so smooth & quiet

Richard,

I did drop mine off once, but she still came back !

But you have a woman that works, how posh are you !? But mine did buy me the car , so I can't complain too much, although she does want to go in it as well ..

P.S. It is all banter by the way, and 'er indoors plays along with it brilliantly, it is amazing how many peeps take us seriously !

We have been married 30 years and likewise have a bit of banter.

hi richard how does the xf drive comparded to your previous cars. charlie

Hi Charlie,

The car the XF has replaced is an Audi TT and I cannot think of anything that be compared   .....oh yes the 0-60 time is similar  :)

The XF is easier to get in and out of, its more comfortable, its quieter, smoother, better appointed better equipped, and should (although i have not seen it yet) do more mpg.

Charles,

My XKR, and my recent XJ Supersport ( and both the XF's I was lent by the garage) have all been leagues ahead of the cars i've had over the past four years, which have been a BMW 335 M sport convertible , a BMW M3 convertible, an Aston Martin DB9 Volante, and an Aston Martin DB9 Le Mans.

The Jaguars have been far superior in every way, and at present I would not dream of driving another marquee ( good word for this time of the morning ).

thanks trevor. was just wondering what it was like to drive. they look good inside and out but have never driven one. the bmw is not bad not the best and not the worst. my oldest boy has a 325m coupe its nice to drive but the xk blows it away. i had a bmw x5 before the jag, nice big car to drive and it could shift 0-60  in 6secs. but it was plauged with electrical probs  had the car 9mths paid cash should have taken them to court but didnt lost 7and half grand on getting rid of it. mercs are mutch better had 3 of them they are very very reliable. didnt want another one fancied a change hence the jag. love the shape of it and apart from the parking sensors replaced under warranty. alls been well in happy valley. the thing i love is the shape and so do others the comments and looks are great.  (ive been busy decorating the house as we have loads of in and out laws friends coming in the next few weeks for a barbie weather permitting before the re-newing of our vows on 24th so HM is keeping me very busy) regards charlie :(

Charlie,

I presume you mean the Astons ?, ok, but nothing to write home about, rather cumbersome for a six litre 12 cylinder . The sav nav is hopeless, you have to refer to the manual for everything, as nothing is logical in the car .

The XJ supersport was faster, and the XKR is miles faster.

Shortly they are replacing the engines with Mercedes AMG ones, and updating the electrics with German stuff also .

They are overpriced ( you can get a Ferrari for the price of the new Vanquish ) , not very fast, cost a fortune to service, and average 18 mpg .

To sum up, a nice car to want, but not to own.

Re-newing your vows, I didn't think peeps really did that , I just tell mine she's lucky she captured me in the first place .

Pic of me with the Aston ( and no, i'm not getting my hair cut ).

This sounds like a win-win situation.......everyone round to Peters for his birthday celebrations and we get to drive Jaguars to the Midlands :)

Took the XF out for its first decent run (other than the 30 miles home from the dealer) probably did about 90 miles round trip, like Peter says it just gets better :)
