It has been brought to my notice by my wife and children, plus grandchildren, who are in cahoots with their parents and Granny, that I am 80 on Friday.

I have been issued with instructions to get myself to the Lake District for a five day party starting tomorrow.  Apparently there will be champagne, and a cake etc, so I am not too worried.

If it had been boiled ham and whiskey it would have been ominous, as I am told that will be served at my funeral.

Peter ,

Have a brilliant time on Friday. I wish I could be there ( I have a flat I can use any time, but the wife refuses to go )

But happy birthday, and don't forget my stick of rock !

A little bird has told me that you're getting the F Type R as one of your presents !

Thanks everybody for your good wishes.

It is Kendal Mint Cake up there Trevor!

The car is filled up with the top quality diesel and I look to get over 40 mpg in spite of the rainy weather.

The Jaguar owners club stickers are there front and rear, so if you live up there look out for them!

I said that I wanted to climb Everest as a birthday present,  but my children are not fit enough.

Regards,

Peter.

Thanks for all the good wishes, guys.

A five day party takes some stamina, as does all the walking etc at Center Parcs.

But a nice fillet steak off the barbecue when we got home last night after a wet 180 miles was enjoyable!

I proved to my children that the old man has still got it!

Regards,

Peter.

Well been on a 180 mile trip in mine today up to Stockton on Tees and managed to get 50.3mpg didn't think I would crack the 50 but I did let's see how we go on the way home tomorrow :-)

That's good, Richard.

And on the topic of Ben Nevis, I did that a few years ago, after Snowdon and Sca Fell Pike.  But I did not think the knees would hold up for a one day trip!
