  1. I can see where you are coming from, I live on the Brecon Beacons so can also be the victim of extreme weather conditions although, there is not a chance of me taking the XKR out if the temperature is below 10 deg C and shows signs of rain. Basically it will be boxed up in the garage between November and March. I don't know what tyres you have fitted at present, on my daily ride which I use 365 days a year (Mercedes CLK270) I fitted a set of AVON all weather which really do grip the road very well and quite quite. Might be worth you checking the website mytyres.com to see what they recommend

  2. Actually Peter, unless they have repeater traffic speed limit signs then you have not broken the law. They can have as many cameras as they want on you but if the case went to the courtroom it would be thrown out if you can prove there was no signage repeated along the roadworks

  3. So long as you are happy Scott then thats all that matters albeit I would still be suspicious main dealer or not especially to a car dealer stating "If we have a sniff of anything wrong then they won't release it". The first thing I would do for peace of mind is take it somewhere reputable that does 4 wheel alignment and get it checked out. If its out then take it back and demand your money back under The Sale of Goods Act [1979] Make sure you inform them of the act before taking the car and that you intend to have the vehicle independently looked at.

  4. On the Sutton Coldfield bypass [A38] a motorcyclist was caught by an hand held speed camera, and the Magistrates sent him for a Psychiatric assessment! There is a time and place for everything, and they determined that it wasn't the A38 but rather Donnington Park.

  5. Hi Gerry, Don't get me going on speed cameras. On the 5th July I went through some roadworks on an empty dual carriageway where the speed limit is normally 70 mph. I was doing 60 isn and didn't see any camera warning or speed signs and neither did my wife. I reduced my speed to 50 mph as that is the usual reduction on dual carriageways with 70 mph limits. A week later I got a letter telling me I was doing 50 mph in a temporary speed restriction area and they had photographic evidence. And that is why I have to spend 4 hours doing a speed awareness course next week! Peter.

  6. Not owned an XJ so cannot comment on the model and sorry to hear of your misfortune obviously being disappointed hearing the news on arrival to sign the dotted line. Personally I would not now want the car, yes the bumper is cosmetic however, hitting the front near side alloy would leave me with suspicions to suspension / allignment damage therefore having very little trust in the car. Have you negotiated a discount because of such damage? Remember you have a 14 day period for which to change your mind, there must be an XJ out there with your name on it having not gone through remedial work. Good luck and welcome to the owners forum
