  1. Andy, Steve, Jaguar dealerships have access to the overall Jaguar database going back a lot further than 12 years, luckily for us :D If you phone your local dealer and explain that you'd like a readout on your car's spec, they will usually send it to you by e-mail within a minute or two and it doesn't cost anything. I say this as it reflects exactly my experience and the experience of several friends. It is quite an interesting document when you see it. As to powerfolds, it is entirely possible that they could be fitted and inoperative. Mine was like that. I don't think they'd been used since day one and the pivot is prone to corrosion. All it takes is to pop the cover off and apply several sprays of WD40 initially at the same time operating the powerfold switch and with helpers gently pushing and pulling on the mirrors until they work loose. After they loosen up a little, change from WD40 to lithium based spray grease, continuing to work the mirrors until they move freely. I tend to give mine a little bit of lithium spray grease every month or so as preventative maintenance. In fact, at this stage you don't even need to remove the covers, just spraying the grease into the pivot and wipe off the excess. Of course, if you have powerfolds then the modification to make them extend and retract automatically when locking and unlocking the car will ensure they get plenty of exercise

  2. Hi Andy I have the same model (registered in June) I think it's all about the original owners requirements when ordering the car from new? Mine does have powered wing mirrors, I only discovered by accident! Before I found that out, I was folding them by hand. It doesn't have the memory button for seat positions, the rear view mirror has the green LED / on off switch ( Electrochromic auto anti-glare) but the LED does not illuminate when pressed, so don't know if that works, haven't driven at night yet.. Behind the rear view mount, it appears there is the rain sensor, but I don't think that works either, no pedal adjustment option on the steering column, and so on. Perhaps contacting A Jaguar dealer and providing your VIN number may help, but after 12 years would that info still be around? Steve

  3. Time to firm up some information for the day :) As it stands at the moment, the following are intending to attend (as it were) :- Paul (Raistlin) S Type Peter (Old Peter) S Type Steve (pablojag1) XKR Stan. S Type Paul (Skelly) X Type john jackson s type tony jover michael patterson andy wolley x type spencer beeson xj40 +1 les aston +1 martyn webster +1 mark bailey +1 pete Mann +1 ? 2 Brian S Type Philip (numkelfutumch) +1 S Type Yuri +1 Skelly Virre X Type Martinkessy S Type jiejie321 m1ken Stanboy (S Type) Jimmy (X Type) Andy Knox. Dave (X Type) +1 or 2 Abbas [XJ] Haydn [Glyn] [[s Type] There will be space for others if you make a late decision :) All of the information about the museum can be gleaned from their web-site which has a link in the first post of this thread. Peter and I propose to be at the venue for 10:00 am and we are able to stay, if we wish, until 5:00 pm. The signage and reserved parking will be in place from 10:00 am. When you arrive and go to the pay point, please tell the person at the desk that you are a member of the JoC and be prepared to quote this reference:- 2176155, to enable you to claim the JoC discount price. I imagine a fair bit of the time will be spent ogling each other's cars but don't forget that there is a whole magnificent motoring museum to be seen as well. We propose a gathering of the clan at 12:00. This is intended to be outdoors with our cars but, in the event of actual or impending inclement weather, we will have made alternative arrangements. This will be decided by Peter and I before you arrive and we'll let you know when you see us. Peter has produced a program per car and these will be handed to you upon arrival as well. Your program will have a reference number on the cover. This will be of importance at the gathering because it will be your free entry into a raffle. The prizes (gizits) are not yet finalised and acknowledgement is given to those who have sponsored the meet. I will be bringing my Mongoose kit along in the hope of getting a little bit of hands on experience between myself and miken (Thomas). Anybody else is welcome to observe and, if you have any experience, to advise :D . Other than the gathering at 12:00 we have no formal arrangements planned as this is our first attempt at bringing members in this area together for a social event. What Peter and I do hope though, is that it will be a memorable event and the catalyst for others to try their hand at arranging similar. PLEASE, feel free to ask questions and offer advice. There is an eating place on the site which is perfectly acceptable but you might want to consider the possibility of a picnic. We would ask, please, that there is no mechanical work carried out on the cars. The reason for mentioning that is experience. I once attended a similar meeting for the Rover 75 / MGZT club at Chasewater and the management were distinctly unimpressed when several cars appeared to discard various parts of their structure including bumpers, brake disks etc. As an aside, if that sort of hands-on, work on cars with like minded souls appeals, I can probably arrange something of the sort along the lines of the Rover 75 MGZT Nano-meets. If anybody is interested I'll happily tell them what sort of thing goes on at such a meet. Not for this meet though... please Peter will be adding a further information post to this thread sometime just before the event to finalise any details. In the meantime, I'm really looking forward to putting faces to names :D To that end, it might be nice if you'd print out a sheet to be placed on the dashboard of your car giving details of who you are (forum username and real name maybe?) plus any other information you might think would be useful. For example details of the car, any modifications possibly? Anyway, that's a suggestion and is entirely up to you. Above all else, have a great time so that we want to do the same again :D
