  1. Thought I would share the detail to the recent Terraclean of my car as I hadn't seen others who have had it done on a 2.2 XF. I have a 61 plate 2.2 XF. I thought others may appreciate the detail on what is a reasonably expensive process (£126). The note below is unapologetically a little nerdy! I bought the car a couple of months ago and it had done 67,000 miles. I have always used Shell regular diesel and got 45mpg over 3000 miles from mixed driving, with a fair amount of motorway. This is my first XF and the first auto for a while so had nothing to compare to. I ran Redex cleaner through when I bought it but didn't see any difference. I took the car in for a Terraclean on Monday and immediately noticed it was much smoother with what felt like slightly earlier and smoother gear changes. I have driven about 600 miles this week for work, a fair amount on motorways, with a lot of stop start in traffic and navigating in an out of a few major cities on the way. The overall MPG is now 50.2 and at one point saw nearly 60mpg. Yesterday I was 'making ground' on the M40 and MPG dipped to 48. Using the 'auto' mpg setting my sense is that there is a small (5-10%) increase in MPG in mixed mode driving vs constant speed driving where there a consistently +10% increase. In the latter case I use the cruise control and use the paddles in D to keep in 8th when I want to overtake on the motorway. To complete the detail my car is running on 18 inch Vela wheels and Pirelli P zeros inflated to 2.1 bar (as per handbook). Overall I had the car Terraclenaed with the hope of a small increase in fuel economy. The results have exceeded my expectations from an MPG perspective with around an extra 60+ miles a tank . In addition the smoothness has improved.

  3. This event will be taking place on 29th May 2016 - most likely to be on the Brighton seafront as usual. It is a Jaguar only event, and I am working on gaining much more industry support than previously, trying to get close to matching Jims last organised event :-), and ensuring that everyone has a fantastic day to remember. There will be a convoy on the morning from Pease Pottage Services to the seafront, with us all setting up camp in one huge parking block prior to a fantastic breakfast with a sea view, and the main meet with as much going on as I can pull together for us including a free raffle for a number of must-have goodies, industry reps (see Industry Attendees list below to see who will have reps onsite) for you to quiz with problems, discounts etc etc. Plus the usual Welcome Packs on the day with free samples, info etc etc. If you would like to sign up for this event please just pop a post on the thread inc how many will likely be coming, and car details, and I will add you in, noting you can join just the main event, or the event and convoy. If you prefer, you are also very welcome to sign up by dropping a line to JaguarForumsUK@solidlinux.co.uk :-) Convoy from Pease Pottage Services: SteveSheldon 1998 XJ8 3.2 Sport Andrew Lowe 1998 XJR Ngarara 2010 XKR 75 HarleyJagMan 1994 XJS Convertible Brian R 2011 XFR Ron The Guardian 2009 X-Type Estate Andrew65 2007 2.2 X-Type Estate Clifton94 2007 XJR Portfolio Ian D 2006 XK Coupe NeilJ 2000 S-Type PabloJag1 XKR Phill (Reverend) 2002 S-Type Brent 2003 S-Type David Beasley 2011 XF 3.0 Tonyxtype S-Type 2.7 SED Andy Ross 2004 S-Type 2.7 SE DwainLondon 2011 XJ Portfolio Dre 2000 S-Type MuskieTwo 2004 XKR PaulJag 2001 S-Type 3.0 Sport PaulJag 1996 XJ Executive 3.2 Mybrief 2003 S-Type Jeremy Bird 2001 XKR Haddock 1995 Daimler Six 4.0 Tinker 2005 XJ Sovereign Dave Troughton 2001 XK8 Coupe Wessex 2000 XJ8 3.2 Emerald Total 27 cars Main Meet Event on Brighton Seafront: SteveSheldon 1998 XJ8 3.2 +1 (JaguarForums.com) Andrew Lowe 1998 XJR +1 (JaguarForums.com) Ngarara 2010 XKR 75 +1 (JaguarForums.com) HarleyJagMan 1994 XJS convertible +2 (JaguarForums.com) Brian R 2011 XFR + 1 (JaguarForum.com) Ron The Guardian 2009 X-Type Estate + 1 (JaguarOwnersClub.com) Andrew65 2007 2.2 X-Type Estate + 1 (JaguarOwnersClub.com) Clifton94 2007 XJR Portfolio + 1 (JaguarForum.com) Ian D 2006 XK Coupe + 1 (JaguarForum.com) NeilJ 2000 S-Type + 1 (JaguarOwnersClub.com) PabloJag1 2001 XKR + 2 (JaguarOwnersClub.com) Elvis (Smile57) 2007 S-Type + 2 (JaguarOwnersClub.com) Phill (Reverend) 2002 S-Type + 2 (JaguarOwnersClub.com) Brent 2003 S-Type + 2 (JaguarOwnersClub.com) David Beasley 2011 XF 3.0 Premium Luxury + 1 (via email) Tonyxtype S-Type 2.7 SED + 5 (via email) Andy Ross 2004 S-Type 2.7 SE + 2 (JaguarForum.com) DwainLondon 2011 XJ Portfolio + 2 (JaguarForum.com) Dre 2000 S-Type + 1 (JaguarOwnersClub.com) MuskieTwo 2004 XKR + 1 (JaguarForums.com) PaulJag 2001 S-Type 3.0 Sport + 1 (JaguarForums.com) PaulJag 1996 XJ Executive 3.2 + 2 (JaguarForums.com) Mybrief 2003 S-Type +3 (JaguarForums.com) Jeremy Bird 2001 XKR + 1 (Facebook.com) Haddock 1995 Daimler Six 4.0 + 1 (JaguarForums.com) Tinker 2005 XJ Sovereign + 2 (JaguarForums.com) Dave Troughton 2001 XK8 Coupe + 2 (Facebook.com) WiltsXK (Phil) 2010 XK Convertible (JaguarForum.com) Wessex (Peter & Carole) 2000 XJ8 3.2 Emerald (JaguarOwnersClub.com) Total 29 cars - 45 attendees Official Event Support Vehicle: Rowan Lill Official Event Photographer: Stephen Cox from CarSnapped (@CarSnapped) Event Sponsors: Harwoods Jaguar - Harwoods Jaguar Brighton SNG Barratt - SNG Barratt - The Ultimate Jaguar Parts Specialist WaxOnWaxOff - www.wo-wo.co.uk Autoglym - Pas5i0n for Perfection Haynes Manuals - See Haynes, See How Scratch Shield - The bucket filter system Ultimo GT Lubricants - High Performance Engine Oil Furniture Clinic - Specialising in the care, repair, & restoration of leather Professional Detailers & Valeters - The UK's trade association for skilled, proven, and insured car care professionals Automatic Gearbox Centre - Automatic gearbox secialists Prestige Car Care Shop - Your number one car care source for automotive detailing supplies Industry Attendees: Harwoods Jaguar - Harwoods Jaguar Brighton Ultimo GT Lubricants - High Performance Engine Oil Automatic Gearbox Centre - Automatic gearbox specialists Event Advertisers: Carphile.co.uk - Celebrating classic and interesting cars VisitBrighton.com - Our Entry The Brighton Argus - Our Entry DriveAddiction.com - Our Entry note updates will also appear on Twitter - why not follow the meet @JFBrightonMeets #MayJagMeet or like us and follow us at our NEW Facebook events page www.facebook.com/JaguarForumsUK and to see previous events for a taste of things please have a look at: UK South East Meet Spring/Summer 2015 in Brighton UK South East Meet December 2014 in Brighton

  6. Din is the standard stereo size fitted to most cars before intergrated radios like the ones fitted to modern cars. Double din is quite literally two din sizes, commonly fitted to Japanese imported cars in the 90's. The satnav unit in the facelift S type is double din. Din and a half is slightly smaller than double din and not very common. Your car can have a faceplate in din or double din.

  7. Think that may be a mk2 facelift faceplate. I rang audio connections who supply halfrauds and was told that there isn't one for the mk1, they actually recommended the fiesta faceplate to fill the gap.

  8. Heart says F but the XKR also looks like a good option. Common sense says keep the XF for a bit longer then buy a 3 year old XE
