  1. If the silicon spray can't get in then surely water from the wet weather wouldn't either. I'd try the silicon spray anyway, what have you got to lose.

Hi Rog The battery could have a dodgy cell, which could chuck up intermittent probs, my gut instinct tells me your problem could be starter motor related, sticky motor / solenoid, or perhaps just a loose electrical connection. Next time it fails to spin, give the starter motor a sharp rap with a stout bit of wood or metal bar, and try again, you may need to do this 2 or 3 times, check the wiring, if all seems well, as Tom points out I would get the battery tested. One thing in your favour at the moment, if you get stuck somewhere, being a manual you have the option of bump starting it! Good luck Steve

  3. Hi Roger The x type needs a good Battery, after starting the Engine make sure that the Battery gets fully Charged before switching the Engine Off. Regards Tom.
