  1. Neil, Have the remote fob ready to hand as you re-connect the battery. If the alarm sounds just press the unlock button. Even if you haven't sorted out your problem, it will switch off the security measures.

  2. Great pictures Henry. I could almost feel the sparks running down my sleeve and smell the paint burning. Thankfully my XK is one of the few cars I've owned that doesn't need surgery (yet) . I wonder if repair panels are available for them. No doubt as they get older and become collectable, someone will start making them. Thanks for the pics

  3. Old man’s car? What about an old woman’s car? I remember several small cars that were favoured by women but so many seem to have become bulbous and ugly. The cars that is! Anyway, you’ll all have been aware (BBC News) that seventy is now regarded as the new fifty. Given that revelation I’m pleased to admit that I bought my first Jaguar three years before I turned ... er ... fifty! Steve, I bet Jaguar have precise details of their customers’ demographic, motor industry marketing departments probably know more about us than we do ourselves. Very best, Jim

  4. My son said he was too young at 45 to have a Jaguar. I showed him the photograph of your sons' X Types. He now has an X Type estate with the 2.0 litre Diesel! Peter.

  5. Bought my 2009 reg, XFS a year ago. often needed to do the 'regeneration run' that usually worked for a while, eventually DPF light and EML came on with restricted performance that would not clear. Local independant garage did a diagnosis reporting DPF contained 82gr soot and required replacement, they fitted a pattern part and reurned car. There was visible smoke and soot coming from DPF/exhaust joint, car returned and new 'gasket' fitted along with a sensor, all lights now out, car quieter but visible smoke from exhaust on acceleration or blipping throttle at standstill. A long fast run decreased the smoke but its still present. Anybody had similar or care to comment, (mileage a bit over 83000) it also has high fuel consumption. Luqa
