  1. I was in The Princess going to work this morning, outside lane of the motorway. All of a sudden, I get an amber warning light and "Fuel Pump System Fault" in the display. Fuel gauge fell to zero as well. Engine seemed to be running fine so edged over to the inside lane and slowed down, trying to control a certain sphincter muscle As the car trundled up the road, the £ signs were mounting up in my head. I remembered that I'd let the tank drop a lot lower than I normally would, just the result of events conspiring to stop me re-fuelling, so much so that the distance remaining on the fuel comoputer was down to 80 miles. I dived straight into the first garage I saw which was just off the motorway where I work and put £30 in (I would have filled her up but their prices are extorsionate). Switched on and fault cleared Clearly, something to do with the fact that the fuel tank is of saddle-bags shape. The same construction on the Rover 75 was responsible for a lot of fuel pump problems as well. I guess I'll not be running the tank down again.

  2. Hi Jim I am funny about my cars and keeping them well so following your last post I have asked my mechanic to change the filter and I will ask him to source from the main dealer and as for the battery already done. The things that I get done you would think any car would be happy to be owned by me.... LOL Lisa

  4. Hi Jim My car is coming up to 100,000 miles I have it services on a regular basis however I am unable to tell if the fuel filter as been changed. I have a superb Mercedes mechanic who works on my car although he changes most service items not sure if that has been done. My mechanic has put the car on a diagnostic code reader and since the Actuator change all error codes have seemed to have cleared. This not the first time that the fuel filter has been mentioned so even if it is not the problem it would worth having it changed anyway to be on the safe side and with any look it would solve my problem at the same time :). I have heard that it needs to be a certain type is that correct and if so do you know which one it should be? Thanks p.s. I can't let the X Type sceptics win after all.........

  5. Have had toe same EPB issue myself several times, each one being thoroughly inconvenient! Have replaced battery and rear brake pads and still the fault would appear, albeit occassionally. Fault never appeared when car had been standing overnight or longer and only ever occurred during a break/rtest in reasonable length journeys (1 hour+). Has AA man out, had car's fault codes analysed etc etc. Car take to Jag main dealer .....fault occurred when with them but still nothing on fault codes. EPB electronic control module changed (unit cost approx £200) = no further recurrences of the fault. Very happy. I noted that when the fault occurred at the Jag dealership they didn't go through disconnecting the battery and then resetting all the electronic but just disconnected both connectors to the electronic control module (boot, RHS behind panelling.) Also, some video footage of another routine here:
