Hi Malcolm, Welcome to the JoC. If you contact your local dealer they will probably provide you with your car's original specification. As well as other interesting things it will tell you if you have powerfolds. You can get a good idea if when you operate the button, you hear a slight click, even if there is no discernible movement. Retro-fitting powerfolding mirrors is ridiculously easy1 point

If there the bonnet mounted ones then they're the same as the ones fitted to the Mgf/tf and a popular mod is to fit those from a Renault megane.1 point

The original idea was not mine chaps and I acknowledge John Wright as the originator It does work well however. At the moment I'm using it as part of a development to enable a disabled driver to continue to use his beloved S-Type, by means of a multi function remote which will compensate for his lack of mobility in his right arm / side. If my project comes to fruition, I'll be licencing the right to use the idea from the originator.1 point

Hi Julie A keen diy mechanic could do this job, theres a fair bit of work, but as long has they have a descent set of axle stands to support the body and a pair of trolley jacks, and half descent tool kit, they should manage obviously a car ramp would make life more easier but once the basics are disconnected like propshaft from diff, bottom of shockers, brake calipers unbolted, pipes unclipped and supported, abs sensors unplugged, rear exhaust removed the whole subframe can be lowered complete and pulled out of the way and the all parts swapped over onto new subframe I would say a garage would do this in half a day and allow a full days work for a good diy mechanic as long as you dont get any complications, like a stubborn bolt on a suspension arms if you get quotes, get them email pics of the item so you can see condition of the subframe, any descent breaker or parts suppliers will do this cheers Joe1 point

Hi Gordon Its says its the right stuff and also states ZF 6HP26 and even quotes ZF Lifeguard 6 It might be ok and I dont know whether it will mix with whats allready in as when you change the oil in a 6HP26 the gearbox holds 10 litres but when you drain it, you only actually get just over 6 litres out, so that means theres about 4 litres left in I would'nt use it in my Jag, but every body to there own I save all the receits for my car, for every thing purchased and this can make a big difference to selling the car cheers Joe1 point

hi depends what you want, if you want a nice smooth ride, these arn't for you these will have much lower profile tyres and the ride will be much harsher and more road noise they should fit but overall size might be different, if the outer size is much bigger then it will effect your speed reading cheers joe1 point

Hi Fred, and welcome to the Club. Jaguar are great cars, and like other modern cars has certain foibles. Have you checked the car battery itself? The Jaguar does demand a battery in good condition. If the battery is OK you could well need the key fobs reprogramming by either the dealer from who you bought the car if you have a warranty, or the services of a good auto locksmith or auto electrician. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.1 point

Bought my first jag at 19, a beautiful 1967 red S1 coupe , wire wheels 8 track the works paid £1900 back in 69 from Blue circle garage in Cheadle hulme and to the present day have owned 16 of this gorgeous marque. My love affair with these cars has far outlasted my 4 marriages and will continue to do so1 point

I was a mere youngster when I first saw the first Jaguar I wanted - a Mark 1 being restored. I was 77 when I bought my first, a rather nice X Type which was stolen the day after my 79th birthday. SWMBO said that I should turn a disaster into an opportunity, and bought me a beautiful S Type [Morgana the Witch]. Great Cars and the Owners Club Members are great people. Hi Ian, Joe is quite correct. What I look for in a diesel is its quietness when cruising, and just a gentle rumble when at low revs. I have had three diesels, the first one being a Rover 418 with the Peugeot engine, which always sounded like a Massey Ferguson on startup, but went as quiet as a mouse when the turbo cut in when the revs increased. HI its a diesel youll never get the same sound of the V8 petrol if you look on youtube there's a x-type diesel with a quicksilver sports exhausts it still sounds like a tractor, I think you wasting your money usually with diesels with sports exhaust you just get a louder gushing noise from the exhaust there no diesel v6 jags on you tube with adamesh systems so that should answer your question cheers joe1 point
