Hi Guys, Just a very brief message until I get a chance to get online for any length of time.. likely next week.. I have uploaded all my photos to our event page on Facebook - www.facebook.com/JaguarForumsUK I hope you like them :-) Additionally, and far far better than mine - you have the photos that Steve from CarSnapped took of our event here: https://www.facebook.com/CarSnapped/photos/?tab=album&album_id=11401450227146081 point

OK, now for a real challenge. My S-Type 2.7 SE is newly imported to Tarn et Garonne 82150 in France. It was last maintained by Preston Jaguar Centre but this is just too far to commute! If anyone has a recommendation in this area I would be both amazed and grateful. I am aware of the Continental Automobile Service, a Jaguar franchise in Villeneuve sur Lot but have no experience of them. Barry1 point

I highly recommend these people. Although not a Jaguar specialist, they are very knowledgeable, very polite, helpful and prices are very reasonable. They are on the Surrey/Hants/Berks border. Hi All Been reading through all the recommended Independants, could only find two suggested anywhere near my location SE12 Lee (south east london) one in SE20 8JY 'J&D's Autos' I google Mapped it, and unless I am blind, it was just a street full of houses, although there were two Jags on the street S type & XJ. Then Next one recommended Was Les Pauls Woodford green, I could only find two reviews (Land rover & range rover) one gave 5 stars the other 1 Star, the setup looked very familar / similar to Lancasters in Sidcup, otherwise know as Jardinemotors http://www.jardinemotors.co.uk/jaguar/?ito=GAG16856789407&itc=GAC75074913487&itkw=lancaster%20jaguar%20sidcup&itawmt=e&itawnw=search&itadvc=c&gclid=CLGJlIbq2MgCFWXnwgodq4wGEA They did a fantastic job for me when i first got my car, however they are not cheap! (does any one know if they are Independants or main dealers?) I have only been to them twice, so very limited experience but both times, very good impressions. I tend to judge a garage by the cleanliness and orderly fashion of the workshop, pretty much spotless it has to be said. They collected my car the first time it went in, and dropped it off again after the work, nicely cleaned and hoovered, they even washed and hoovered the car the second time, (I was only getting my spare key Programmed!) Anyhow, I would really like to hear of any other recommended Mechanics / Body shop in my area, someone did ask about Bexleyheath DA6, that would also be fine for me. I could stay with these guys above, but would much rather keep some of my money in my pocket, and build a rapport with a local mechanic. Cheers Steve1 point

Hi I recently had an issue with my x type ( Fans staying on)- local garage tried but after five days gave up as they didn't have the knowledge /equipment. Phoned JAGUTEK 22 Lancaster Way Business Park, Ely, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND, CB6 3NW. What a great company - managed to take my car in same day and told me what was wrong and fixed it within 24hrs. Even better the first garage were going to charge me £650 to fit the wrong part and JAGUTEK fixed the problem with less than half the cost! It is great to talk to a garage who know Jaguars inside out and you can have confidence in.1 point

Hi Mark, I was at the Classic Motor Show this year and there was a small display of repaired and re-chromed parts --- mainly for motor cycles as they can be carried around in a van -- but I was assured that they also did parts for cars. It was called Ashford Chroming, and you can look it up on the internet. The quality of repair looked pretty good. As the name indicates, the works is based in Ashford, Kent, and it could be near enough for you to visit, but is certainly worth a 'phone call. A Four Twenty certainly needs support, and bits must now be rare. Good luck. Peter.1 point

Having felt the full force of rip off merchants, AKA Franchise dealers with my Aston (they are also Jaguar franchise) I am returning to the chap who always used to service my cars, and he has a very good repeutation in the area . He has promised to maintain my 2012 XJ Supersport with genuine Jaguar parts at a fraction of the cost of the franchise garage. He is a decent chap, his name is Chris Bament He owns Castle Hill Garage, Castle Hill, Ilfracombe, North Devon, EX34 9HX Tel/Fax 01271 863432 Mobile: 07973 286 5571 point

Hi All, I have tried the guy in Northfield Birmingham for a recent pre-MOT check and MOT - and wouldn't hesitate to go back to him for all my future needs (Jag-related of course!). Looking forward to a long and mutually beneficial servicing/repair relationship, not that I want the car to play up or go wrong of course!1 point

Hello Colin, and everyone else. A great idea to list and rate the various independent garages around the country. I have not yet used a garage for any of my four jags. As I am in NW London, I will probably try "the jag workshop .com", which is in the Mall, Ealing, and relatively close to me. Unless of course, anyone in JOC tells me otherwise. I also need someone to re-varnish the woodwork in my 420g, where someone prior to me stripped back to bare wood. A friend of mine recommended a guy called "Mark" in Kent who he had re-place his fuel tanks, re-place the auto gear box, and re-place the engine on his 420g. No idea if he does work on interiors. I only have his mobile number, and I am unsure whether he would appreciate me quoting that before I even meet him. I have been told he is known to the JOC however. Anyway, lets get these workers some sort of listing, and some sort of rating. It cannot be a bad thing. 420g.1 point

S & C Motors, Southampton Unit 3/Hound Farm, Hound Road, Netley Abbey SO31 5FS Southampton, Hampshire I'm a recent Jaguar re-purchaser (2010 XK 5.0 Portfolio since you ask) and when I had a V8 S-Type a couple of years ago Shaun from S&C (the C is his wife) looked after it brilliantly. The site is on a scruffy estate which looks very unpromising but Shaun and his guys know their stuff so don't be put off by the environment. Phone: 023 80458418 Fax: +44 (0) 1434 6369001 point
