Welcome to the club, Darren. That is a difficult question. I would see what the 2002 XK8 prices are for those of similar mileage. I would then look at the cost of replacing the headlining professionally, and then the cost of a respray. That should give you an idea of the value of the car. Regards, Peter.2 points

Hi, I have always liked Jaguars ever since watching Arthur Daley in his early Jag :-) I have been talking to a friend who is not into his cars in terms of looking after them long term. He has offered me his October 2002 XK8 4.2 Auto. It is black with rare Black and Red trim. He is the second owner from new and bought it from Lancasters when it was three years old in 2005. He has always had it serviced, not always by Jaguar and just had a gearbox overhaul (£3.5k) new disks pads etc. it has tatty paintwork and a big bubble on the rear quarter panel. It needs a new headlining and most of the lights are on, on the dash but all the work has been done just not by Jag to turn off the lights. It drives nice and sounds fine, what is it worth? All help appreciated. Darren.1 point

Hi Brandon, as Woodsy says the 2.7 V6 Diesel engine is great - I have a 2008 XF with the 2.7 V6 Diesel engine and it has now 184,000 miles on the clock and still gives me 48mpg on a long run, so if it has a good service history and you check the MOT history as O.T.H recommends you won't go wrong! Good Luck!1 point

Hi bdog I have just bought a 57 plate s type diesel and it is lovely mate If the price is right and you have done your home work MOTs Service history and so on I dont think you can go wrong That engine is a cracker if you look after it So best of look mate1 point

Check the top hose barb on the coolant tank isn't leaking - common to snap and you'll have orange coolant around the black rim of the tank.1 point

Hi there, My name is Ed Kear, I'm an actor, writer & director originally from Bristol, now based in London. I'm currently looking to put together some teaser footage to attract investment for a feature film I have written & I need a newish Jaguar XJ for one of the scenes. I was wondering if there was anyone on here that would be interested in coming down, helping us out & letting us film in their car for a few hours in (most likely) July? There is a budget, however it's not huge, as at this stage we are a self funded concept which we're trying to get off the ground. If anyone's up for this or wants to talk further, please do drop me a line at 'edkear@gmail.com'. To date I have worked with the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Fox and numerous well known faces in the industry. Here is a link to my showreel: www.vimeo.com/161640191, so you can see I'm serious! Cheers, Ed1 point

Kenny, I am so sorry to hear that we will have to miss your immense contribution to the forum. Clearly you are under an intolerable strain at the moment and I wish you the best overall outcome given the circumstances. Best wishes to you and your family.1 point

Hi David, XF and s type batteries seems to last about 5 years. I usually put mine on a charge once a month. Peter.1 point
-
Peter, thanks very much for that. I'll try both over the next few days and let you know the outcome. I have managed to find other threads on this subject now and it does appear to be a common fault. The battery may be a contributory factor as during the winter months if i didn't start her for a couple of days i would get a low battery message on the warning screen1 point

Hi David, Have you checked your battery? If it is fully charged I would be to first reset the windows and if that doesn't work, I would disconnect the battery for a few minutes and then do a full reset. The alternative is to squirt a bit of WD40 or similar into the window as it is going down and see how it goes. Others with more electrical nouse than myself will also assist. Regards, Peter.1 point

Hi Folks, I have a 2009 XFS and recently the drivers side electric seat has stopped working. There is no indication on the memory selector unit in the door. I thought it would most likely be a blown fuse but I have checked them today and they are all good. Anyone got any ideas of where to start looking next? Loathe to put it to the garage and they would probably see it as an open cheque book!! Cheers, Rob.1 point

I purchased the COMMA diesel injector and emission cleaner from Halfrauds. There were more expensive ones but that poured into a tank of diesel with a blast seemed to do the trick. Stopped my engine management coming on, like yourself I got fed up with it resetting the fault code every five minutes.1 point

Hi Peter, Thanks for that, and yes I will as I am in a position to do this on Sunday. It is heartbreaking to see people here in Taibach with worry on their faces as they go into work smashing all production records again this week, and it is not making any difference! As without the generous help given to the German and Dutch Steel Workers, but refused to ours under European rules, they don't stand a chance! Very sad, very sad indeed! Kind regards, Phill.1 point

Hi Phillip, I had to WD40 the driver's seat a couple of times during the winter, and a bit of jiggling [permissable] worked. As an aside, please give my support to the workers at Port Talbot, a works I know well, and where i felt that I was always welcome every time I went there. Regards, Peter.1 point

Hi Rob, Hi Kenny, Same trouble with the drivers seat on mine, as I had it in last week for the Wiper Assembly to be replaced, I told him about it. He gave me one of those irritating "Mechanic's Look's", and said to leave it to him. I did, went over for a full English opposite and a wander round PC World. When I got back it was all done and I asked what it was(Fuse or wiring) He said neither, he had removed the seat and physically jiggled it..!!! (As a vicar, I don't think I should get involved with that sort of thing!) Anyway, apparently, the motors often stick and that is all it takes! It works fine now, there was no charge for the 'Jiggling' but £140 for the wiper assembly. I am hoping for a good collection this week! Hope this is helpful, Phill (Reverend)1 point

Hi Rob, Unfortunately I have exactly the same problem with the passenger seat in my XKR and like yourself being an electrical engineer went straight to the fuses. I suspect a wire snag or plug / socket issue. When weather improves I intend to remove seat to take a look. If you find anything in the meantime please let me know.1 point

Thought I would start a positive post on what you have done with your Jaguar today. Today I replaced all of the carpets in my boot, as the ones that were in-situ when I bought the car, had a nasty smell in them. I purchased the carpets second-hand from JagBreakers. Fitted new McGard locking wheel nuts purchased from Euro Car Parts - originals were well worn and rusty. Replaced the remaining (16) wheel nuts as well - purchased from Jaguar. Replaced original centre caps with nice new red centre caps - purchased from Amazon. Replaced the tyre valve dust caps with new chrome Jaguar dust caps - purchased from Amazon. Also gave the car a good wash and brush-up, inside and out. All in all, a busy day :)1 point

First, looked out of the window to see if it was still there. Second, thought about washing and drying her. And on the to do list, check oil and top up screen wash. Then go to Lichfield to pick up two grandchildren from school. Peter.1 point
