  1. Right guys, I recently bought my jaguar first one ever and managed to get the 2005 xtype 2.2d sports premium package. I've been waiting months for the right one. Being 24 I was nervous about buying thinking people would say it's a an old man's car buy it proved them wrong !. No one could believe you could get one with such beauty. Anyway travelled 300 miles in the past two days littilary driving about to random places as it's a pleasure to drive. The way it handles and the power delivery is phenomenal but driving a van 5 days a week will never take the fun out of driving a jaguar. Anyway here's a couple photos👍

  4. Hello All, Well I am new to this forum, however I have been a proud owner of a 2004 S Type 2.7d for coming up to a year. Originally I had a Renault Traffic Van with only 3 seats and with a growing family was looking soon to change. This one morning the change had been forced upon me a bit too quick. The wife's Ford Focus needed an engine rebuild due to a broken off spark plug. Yipee I thought as I cycled in that morning as the wife had the van to drop the kids off. I cycled back at lunch time to get the van and go to a local dealer to have a look at some cars. Went in to the dealer and said what have you got in exchange for my van? He reeled off all these cars he would happily swap for the van. All were disappointing until he said, " I saw you were looking at the Jaguar". My ears pricked up like an excited puppy, but playing it cool I said, "but my van is worth more surely". I tell you what, he said. A full tank of fuel, and anything you see that needs doing on the car we will do. Jackpot I thought. Right 4 new tyres please, New M.o.t , new pads all round and one injector is leaking fuel slightly. He said not a problem, I went back to work with a big grin. He rang me about an hour later and said it would be ready for around 5. I said to the boss I'm leaving early, and turned up in my van. Keys were exchanged and warranties , insurance and tax dealt with. I forgot to mention to the wife, instead of just looking I got a new car. I turned up at home expecting a right old rollocking. But no a big grin on her face (mainly due to the fact I think she didn't have to sit in a smelly van any-more). So the next morning I looked outside to a glimmering black beauty. Got in it and drove 4 miles to work. And this is what I do everyday since with a smile and great posture as I can finally sit comfortably in my electric seats. However all this is accompanied by my ever increasing toolbox, groan of another warning light coming on and my temperamental radio and lava infused air conditioning, all of which are work in progress. But safe to say I love it! and wouldn't ever dream of changing it. Steve.

  5. Thank you Peter and Steve, Very nice cars guys, mine has covered 123,000 miles apparently mainly motorway as it was a reps car. It had been serviced every year by Jaguar. Just about to go into Westover Jaguar in the next couple of weeks for a service. Steve

  8. Like a number of other S Type owners, I have suffered from periodic Parkbrake failure, sometimes with the Parkbrake on and sometimes off. The former immobilises the vehicle which can be quite inconvenient. In both cases the situation has been resolved by disconnecting the neutral connection from the battery, short-circuiting the vehicle circuit for about 30 seconds and then reconnecting. It is best to leave the key in the ignition in the "off" position as you do this, as otherwise the alarm can go off, and you need to re-set the parkbrake and input the radio code etc. This method has never failed to sort the problem. Recently however, the incidence of parkbrake failure has become greater and really quite annoying ( and sometimes embarrassing!). It also became apparent that it invariably occurred on start-up, as I cranked the engine. Having already changed the 9-year old battery, and checked the connections I came to the conclusion that the cause of the problem was the starter motor. I have just had my local non-jaguar workshop change this item (for about £330 inc VAT) and you wouldn't believe the difference in cranking speed and starting performance. Even the mechanic was surprised at the difference. Although I have started the car on only a few occasions since I am confident that this has effected a permanent cure. Having owned the car from new and covered 109,000 miles I had not appreciated the gradual deterioration in starter motor performance, which was almost certainly causing the voltage-drop that affects a number of electronic systems. If readers have a parkbrake problem I would recommend that you consider replacing the vehicle's starter motor, probably before the battery unless it is very old. If I do suffer a recurrence I shall post an additional comment. However, I am sure that will not be necessary.

  9. I had this, turned out to be a fault sensor. Turn your ignition on, put it in reverse and then put your ear to ear sensor. You should hear it ticking.

  11. Had this problem myself. Could be a sensor or the control unit. I had to replace the control unit which is situated in the left hand side of the boot. Not cheap I recall. Good luck.

  12. Hi Peter, Thanks for the welcome. Yes the S Type is a unsung hero Jag , in my opinion Jaguar should have ' played around' with the design of the S type and it could have been a truly desirable new model with the classic Jag grille left intact. I have attached a customised S Type that I found on the internet which I believe is stunning and only a small uplift that I am sure Jaguar could have improved even more. Regards Jeff
