  1. HI, Just joined the club today after picking up my 2011 (facelift) XF 3.0 S Portfolio last Friday. We had been researching and looking at XFs for nearly a year and decided to wait until 2017 to make our purchase. However my dear wife was looking at Autotrader last Saturday and spotted the vehicle which had just gone on sale at a local dealer, less than a mile from home, at what we thought was an excellent price. Visited the dealer the next day and traded in our SEAT Exeo for the Jaguar. The SEAT although a fantastic car was unfortunately too light to tow our caravan. We have been reading the extensive XF manual since picking up the car and have beenon local shopping trips in it but today we went to the coast for our first proper drive out. What an excellent car! The next step is to have the tow bar fitted to tow our caravan.

  2. Yup, if the water was fresh and there was no corrosion, indicating a leak over a longer period, I'm with Andy that it's not an issue. Worse case scenario is replacing boot seals which I think has been covered on the forum before. Could be a winner then

  3. I get really irritated if not angry when I hear of these things happening and the ridiculous bureaucracy that goes with them. I have a 30 year old daughter who was born with quite severe cerebral palsy which affects her mobility, speech and more recently eyesight. She lives independently not far from us and receives care in the mornings and evenings. I addition to that she relies on my wife and I during the day to help her with the things outside of her carers' remit. My daughter would love to be able to work but cannot due to her condition and for "health and safety" reasons. Recently my wife had to once again go through the PIP application process on behalf of our daughter which involved completing a 40 page document. This was then followed up by a 2 hour visit from an independent assessor to assess our daughter against the same (40 page document) criteria. This took place several weeks ago and the report is now presumably being appraised in some government department prior to a decision being made on our daughter's benefits. Meanwhile I continue to see abuse of the blue badge system on a massive scale. People parking without blue badges in disabled spaces is bad enough but seeing able bodied people with blue badges is even worse. I have a neighbour who blatantly boasts about the fact that she has a blue badge due to an arthritic shoulder yet she still manages to go horse riding most days!!!! How can people who clearly don't qualify for disabled parking benefits obtain blue badges so easily when people who really need them have to struggle and endure the difficulties described above?? Rant over!

  4. With a power washer water will get past most seals so it shouldn't be anything to worry about.

  5. Thanks Joe, not sure why they're referring to the gearbox as a transaxle, which it isn't, plus they suggest I should call the local distributors for expert advice. Given that these are listed as Halfrauds and B&Q, I don't think I'll bother with that! From Peter's recommend, I'll likely go with Opie and what they suggest, although I'll choose Castrol if there is an option, rather than the Fuch brand which they recommended...

  6. Welcome to the club, Alan. As a former caravanner, the 3.0 litre XF will make a great tow car - you won't know you have a caravan on the back! Just enjoy the car, and the club. Regards Peter.
