I was round at Denis's this afternoon Gary and he was preparing your CDC and bracket for packing. He's including the bolts but, as I said earlier, you might need to drill the boot floor and insert riv-nuts.
You'll need to remove the left hand side trim, if it's not already out. The picture below shows the location of the bracket. Have a look at the boot floor and see if there are four riv-nuts already in situ. You will probably find four holes with blanks fitted.
It's not exactly the same bracket as yours but serves to show the location. Let me know what you find and if required I can provide some riv-nuts and you can borrow my riv-nut gun to fit them.
Here is a link to the fitting instructions
My XF and XK both make no sound: The windows autoclose, and there is the clunk of the doors locking, but nothing else.
To be honest, I don't remember any of my vehicles making a beep when the alarm was set, since the days when the alarm was a non-original accessory.
But then, my memory can be vague about such things!
Just to clarify what can be? And can't be done online using the DVLA personalised registrations electronic transfer from a retention V778 document to vehicle.
You need to have the V778 retention document with your name typed by the DVLA under the left hand side shown under Grantee. This name must match EXACTLY THE NAME ON THE VEHICLES V5 THAT IT'S BEING TRANSFERRED TO. This is then a free of charge transfer. A new V5 will be issued and if required? The MOT details will be up-dated at the time the vehicle is next retested. This is a free service.
Problems arise purchasing a personalised number privately or from some dealers if there details (name) is still shown on the V778 Retention document as the Grantee and your as the purchaser is wrote in pen under the right hand side shown under Nominee. Then the DVLA online electronic transfer service can't be used!.
The Nominee (you) will need to send the V788 document signed by BOTH the Grantee and yourself with the vehicles V5 back to the DVLA with a transfer fee of £70.
So if buying a personalised registration ASK 1st whether your buying it with your details added by the DVLA as the Grantee or just as the Nominee? If just as the Nominee then you need to factor in the transfer cost in to buying the registration number.
Hi
I would look in the boot first, check that is all dry
then I'd remove both door steps trims and push the carpet back and have a look
there was a known fault on early s-type's, that water got in under the rear door step trims
also windscreens some times with age peel and water leaks from behind the glass
cheers
Joe
