  2. ^ Quite. It's the die hard Ford nutters who amuse me the most, the sort that pledge their allegiance to the blue oval and purposely keep their highly modified cars all Ford. But then they embraced the Duratec V6 (which went on to be the X and S type etc. V6), it was a Mazda design. Then the Duratec in-line 4, again Mazda. After Ford bought Volvo they used the ancient Volvo in-line 5 turbo in the Focus ST and Ford people went crazy for it declaring what a ground breaking company Ford were... I'll never forget lifting the bonnet on a late 90's Fiesta only to be confronted with a modernised Kent motor, a 50 year old design at the time. A good engine yes, but hardly indicative of an industry at the cutting edge of technology as they would like us to think they are.

  3. Welcome to the club, Les. The x type is a great car, and is it a real Jaguar. The so called purists are quite ignorant of practices in the Automotive industry. Jaguar in the 1930s used Standard Engines, and Austins used the Jaguar manufactured Chassis. Rolls Royce never provided the body of a a car, just the engine and chassis, till the 1950's and Park Ward and Mulliner built the car. Engine parts are produced by over 140 different companies, as are body section. The X Type uses a modified floor pan of Mondeo origin -- and some Ford parts this is common practice across all motor manufacturers. I have driven Rovers with Peugeot engines, and BMW diesels were used in some Land Rovers. Just enjoy the Jaguar experience. Regards, Peter.

  4. Welcome. This forum may seem a bit quieter than others but then you'll usually get a considered, useful response rather than things like "Well my mates girlfriends brother tried this and it worked for him lol" I think to satisfy a real purist you'd have to go back to the pre BL era, nearly 50 years ago.. In the real world things change and so your car is a real Jag.
