  1. There are some good stereo systems on offer as standard, I have 825watts and 17 speakers as a standard offering, great sounding system.

  2. That was almost as much fun as actually buying one Dave 🙂 I got exactly the one I wanted and had a great time going through the likely candidates. The only thing it didn't have was Jaguar Voice but that is a matter of 10 minutes to sort out 😉

  3. They are great cars, I have a petrol variant with a V8 lump. At the 8k price range lots of choice, more toys can mean more expense if they go wrong. As a rule of thumb if these cars have been serviced regularly they are usually fairly reliable, be wary of any crash damage like any car and if going for a diesel, suggest using the dvla service to see annual mileage, they do need to be driven.

  4. Hi Dave. Completely agree with everything Paul said, but prefer the original interior. Mine's an XF-S Portfolio (3.0d), 2011. Goes and handles brilliantly; a car that big shouldn't do what it can do! It runs rings around my wife's Audi TT! Only things that caused my bank balance to shudder are: Tyres, tyres and more tyres (Heavy right foot!) Rear wishbones Inlet manifold Recently had it ceramic coated, transformed the look. almost keeps itself clean, like a good cat should 😉 Currently working myself up to the issue of replacing the timing belt, but due to the lockdown, not such an immediate problem (currently on about 81000 miles). There are lots of horror stories about DPF problems, but (crossing fingers here!), I have yet to be bitten by that, apart from once in the early days of owning it, but a good blast up the M23 and around the M25 resolved it in no time. Currently mainly doing shopping trips, but all is still cool! Whatever you go for, make sure that absolutely everything works as it should, and post a pic! Cheers, Jon

  5. Just changed mine from a V 6 petrol to a V6 facelift diesel sport (275 BHP) and by god does she go 🙂 Lots of horror stories about DPF and EGR but I find with regular servicing and once a week foot down I never had any problems with my diesel S-Type which I had for several years. Portfolio spec is the one to go for if you like luxury and toys 😉
