  1. Hi all, I am looking forward to joining in on the forum. I recently took ownership of my 2011 XJ, a Premium Luxury in Stratus Grey, with ivory and grey leather and satin walnut. The car is wonderful and I love every minute driving. I’m working on adding in a couple of features not originally in the build, such as Dualview and rear zones climate control, but otherwise would not want to spoil such an excellent vehicle. Looking forward to sharing our adventures on here from time to time!

  3. Well the car been into the Jaguar service for its annual services. Nothing wrong with the service, but they struggled to get OEM brakes! Apparently a shortage of stock in the UK. The brakes on my XF are a bigger spec, but maybe worth checking if you are due soon as apparently because of all the delays with imports, certain parts are running very low!

  4. Hi All Just joined up! I have a 2003 x350 XJ8 4.2 SE in Grey with Pale Grey Leather. Bought it in April for next to nothing due to a damaged front left wing (now replaced) It has a few minor issues to sort out so thought I'd join the conversation and see if I can get some pointers.

  5. Hi The photos are from my 2013 XF Sportbrake, so yes it is really easy to see. In my case it was like that when I picked it up from the dealer at purchase. Whilst arranging to take it back for them to sort I found the way to sort it on the Internet. Kind regards John

  6. Best thing to do is to push the tool down the filler and see if it makes a difference.

  7. Hi Peter, Good you put my mind at ease, I had so much trouble with Jeep electric park brake (and the electrics in general) I was just a little worried. I will read the manual later just been a bit hectic today. The car I have is in a lovely condition for 2005, only thing I have to sort out is it has only one key. Just sold my old X type. Had a lot of trouble with time wasters and odd people, never advertise on Facebook! Also I have a copy of your book now, not read much yet but enjoying it.😃 Best Regards, Julie.

  9. I just put my ctek extended cable in through boot (trunk for any U.S. viewers) and close it.

  10. You could use the CTEK, put the charger indoors and use a extension lead for the ctek 12v to reach the car then you could either mount a plug in the boot, so you just open the boot and plug it in and then shut the boot at lock it, the lead would be protected if fused if there was a problem, problem with this is some times you forget and just drive off and damage the lead, a friend of mine uses a ball of bluetak, places the ball over the ignition lock, which remind him if he gets in with out unplugging the charger that its still on charge or you could just mount the convenience just below your bumper, so you can plug it in easy without opening the boot and would just pull apart if you forgot extending the 12v lead lead would not be effected by any weather no matter how wet it got

  11. Hi Any really mxs 5.0 is most common I have the genuine jaguar one which is only a 3.3 amp, which does the job perfect theres no benefit to getting anything bigger, wont charger the battery any better or faster, as its a smart charger and does it in processes, then when complete it turns off and stay in standby sort off, when the battery voltage drops it starts charging and goes through the same process again, this is why these can be left on long term and wont over charge or boil the battery dry, like cheaper ones you can also get convenience kits that you fit. mine has a small socket in the boot, you just open the boot and plug it in and its maintaining, no need to lift carpet ot get to the battery also if you fit anything connected to the battery, like one of the sockets or quick connect kits, make sure its a fused type as close to the battery as possible, some kits are not fused, and if you trap the cable by accident, it will just melt all the cables or possibly start a fire. cheers Joe

  12. Hi Petrol and diesel pumps are different diameters. The flap is deployed automatically if you put a petrol pump into the diesel filler. As others have already said it is a simple fix using the yellow plastc tool stored on the battery. When you look down the filler there should be nothing much to see. If you see a bright yellow piece of plastic with the symbol of a manual on it you need to reset it. This video is on a Land Rover Disco but it is identical

  13. I use a ctek mxs 5.0 and I know a lot of other forum members use this also. I have no hesitation recommending it.........

  14. I had the same problem - the pump kept stopping. A friend found the answer…….in the boot, under the floor there is a yellow plastic gadget that you insert in the filler tube and you can release a “stop mechanism”. This system operates when you have filled up with some sort of contaminated fuel. Hope this helps.

  15. Hi Graham, It sounds like your misfuelling prevention device has tripped. There should be a yellow plastic reset lever in the battery compartment, instructions to use it are in the owner’s manual, but it’s really “insert, twist, remove”. Cheers, Jon
