  1. Here it is. It’s not my favourite colour in the range but purchased on condition and dealer reputation. Charcoal black interior, I did consider a light interior as it does look nicer but my current car has an ivory interior and it has been a night mare to keep clean with some permanent staining now which I can’t get rid of. I think the black will wear better in an older vehicle.

  2. Well, I’ve paid for a car today, won’t see it in the flesh until later in the week, subject to a satisfactory MOT result. I decided on a 2010 3lt Diesel portfolio model, 123k miles, FSH, cam belts and water pump replaced at 90k. Only issue is some stone chips on the bonnet which aren’t too bad from the pics and allowed me to negotiate a discount. The Luxury model I originally wanted is also a very good car but the extras on the portfolio won me over. This is the first time I have ever bought a car without seeing it in the flesh and bizarrely I haven’t even sat in an XF ! From the reviews and videos I have seen, it seems to fit my needs as a long distance cruiser, the only slight reservation I have is that the car comes with 20” wheels which may mean the ride will be harsh or noisy. Coming from a TT, it will likely feel like a magic carpet ride in any case. I look forward to being engaged in the forum as my ownership progresses.

  3. Hi folks. I am new to the world of Jaguar (although I do own a beautiful Landover) and I am trying to get hold of either a lovely XK8 coupe or a drop head. Ideally I want a late model 2005 but after seeing three cars all of them have rotting rear subframe support brackets (see images). Now these appear to be bolt-on steel brackets and I was wondering if anyone has had experience of replacing them, either personally (is there a procedure anywhere) or by a specialist (in which case how much did it cost). What amazes me is how for such a seemingly important subframe part all three cars had current (and recent) MOTs in which with only one was the corrosion mentioned as an advisery. Just how corroded do these need to get without failing?? Cheers all and Happy New Year. Garry

  4. Julie Yes the XK was a convertible and was two tone colour ........... red and RUST. It was a real "dog" of a car. Had youth and not much sense on my side . I bought it and ran it for about two weeks and then sold it for a profit of £400, which was a lot of money in them days. The Mk 2 was a much better car in Metallic Dark Blue, Cream leather interior and Chromed Wire Wheels. That lasted a bit longer, If my memory serves me right it was about two months and I had an offer I could not refuse, youth, Dell Boy and the draw of money yet again. Boy do I wish I still had that car. A lot of water under the bridge since then. Happy memories. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Regards, John
