  1. John As much as I tend to agree with comments about insurance companies. I.E. That they will always attempt to avoid paying claims and using "wear and tare." etc, etc. I can also see the side of the argument that could suggest it is not for insurance companies to pay out for repairs that are probably related to manufacturer design and or quality.   2. Thanks, John! Actually, the battery is disconnected, so that method does not work either. :(. I was able to remove the side pillars in the rear seat, and the bottom bolts from the rear seat, and using an extension tool then disengage one of the seats to fold forward. This allowed be to reach the manual boot hood release (escape) latch located at the back of the compartment on the boot lid itself.
