  1. Probably not the most convenient of action, to drive without key present and then not be able to start if the car were stopped and turned off. Todays so called technical progress does at time leave me totally cold and confused. There again I am 72 years of age, so maybe not surprising. 😑 Regards, John

  2. Always found this odd, you would think car would go into some form of resticted mode if key not present say after a couple of minutes.

  5. hi because you have no key, you cant just copy the old key I dont think jaguar keeps keys patterns saved, so it would be new ignition, door and boot locks, then recode the keys and remotes cheapest option is to get a second hand set of keys and locks, fit them and get some one out to reprogram them like tony dalton mobile jaguar mapping and coding

  6. Hi Ishmael, The only other option I can think of is an Auto Electrician. There used to be one advertising in the Birmingham Area --- he was a Mobile Electrician. It would be worth you going on to the internet to see if there is one around. Let us know how you get on. Peter.

  7. Thank you Pete. The is still locked and safe. I called the main dealer and the they qouted me £1600 for the keys as they said they need changing bits in the car as well. Is there a way I can get keys made without splashing this huge amount of money and have nothing change inside the car, maybe buying keys and fob from internet and get it cut and programmed for the car.
