Hi Steve. Just about to pick up my X-Type in New Year, so thought I'd see what the forum has to offer. Got myself a 2007 (57) 2.2D Sovereign - was hoping for a 2008 but all around here were much higher mileage.

Thanks, Steve! I haven't owned a Jaguar for over 20 years. In the past I've had a 3.5-litre 1948 model, Mk 1, Mk 2s, a Mk lX, a 420, XJS 5.3, XJ6 Series 1 and a 2-door Daimler 4.2. I've got to say I'm extremely pleased with the X-type (bought it from a dealer in Cardiff), although there a couple of rattling noises I want to sort out - one from the rear suspension, and a light rattle from the engine when cold.

Hi Steve. I have the bug to buy a used x type. The model I can afford would be about an 06 or 7 2 or 2.2 litre SE diesel preferably an estate. In Autotrader it seems I can get a nice looking one with about 80,000 on the clock. But what might be the drawback? What are the kind of things to look out for? I have taken early retirement at 64 due to ill health and only do about 10k miles a year. Ideally I would like the car to last me out without costing a fortune in repair bills.
