The new Jaguar XE will be officially unveiled tonight (September 8th), after the car was carried by a helicopter down the River Thames last night. Jaguar’s 3 series, A4, and C-Class rival will be shown to the public this evening, and will try to gain a foothold in this area by boasting the most fun to drive car in the class, while being quiet and luxurious. The XE claims to be the most economical out of its rivals with more than 75mpg coming from the turbo charged 2.0 Petrol or Diesel in its most frugal model. This is apparently thanks to their new lightweight aluminium construction, the same technology that is in the XJ, XK, and F-Type. It is also highly likely that the car will have low enough CO2 emissions to be eligible for free road tax. The prices are still to be confirmed, but Jaguar have a history of under cutting similar models, so the XE could cost less than its equivalent, the 3 series. However due to the lack of small engines this is probably not going to be the case. View the full article
