  1. if the pads touch the disks then they can get really hot, so when doing motorway driving they will be hot. go and take a motorway run and then stop and put your hands near the wheel hub (not on the disks) and if they glow warm then they are probably touching slightly. Or it could have done that a while back They cannot warp without the heat so I would think its all down to the calipers or pads Don't feel too disallusioned by this.. i had quite a few Lexus before and they also had the same problems which was all down to the caliper.
  2. Hi Sorry to hear of your warped disk problem. The warping is caused by over heating of the disk. Do you brake at high speeds a lot? Live on a large hill? Have you had the calipers overhauled to check the slide pins are not corroded? When the car goes in to limp mode it should set a fault code, i would go and get the fault code read from the memory and see whats causing that, maybe ABS due to the faulty calipers? Keep us updated

  19. Hi and welcome to the club Apart from checking the past service history very thouroughly you can check the past MOT's online as ell But you will need the v5c nuber of the car or a past MOT number https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-status-vehicle From this you can check all MOT's of the car to see if it has had previous failiures and work that was needed. May give you some indication of its reliability from a structural perspective.

  25. First time i have personally experienced a Auxiliary heater working on my new S-Type. I can understand how people think there Jag is about to catch on fire. I learnt the hard way too. Yesterday I checked it out as curious how it works and to make sure it was the Auxiliary heater that causing the smoke. The Auxiliary heater still comes on even if the car was almost at running temprature. The temparture was 1 outside and whilst sitting at traffic lights i noticed the smoke from the heater, when pulling away I noticed it left quite a bit of smoke. The Engine light came on ( a clench ass moment) I had 15 miles left of range so the car needed fuel. I stopped to get fuel and noticed the engine light was still on afterwards. No smoke at all. When i got home the car sounded good, no smoke from exhausts at all. I turned the engine off for 5 mins, had a cuppa and then started the car again, got underneath and could see the Auxiliary heater working as normal. The engine light had gone out. Question is, I read that when the car gets low on fuel the Auxiliary heater has air ingress due to the offtake for the heater fuel line sits higher on the fuel tank than the lines for the engine. Does anyone know if this would cause the engine management light to show? Also, anyone else have any Auxilary heater stories?
