First time i have personally experienced a Auxiliary heater working on my new S-Type. I can understand how people think there Jag is about to catch on fire. I learnt the hard way too. Yesterday I checked it out as curious how it works and to make sure it was the Auxiliary heater that causing the smoke. The Auxiliary heater still comes on even if the car was almost at running temprature. The temparture was 1 outside and whilst sitting at traffic lights i noticed the smoke from the heater, when pulling away I noticed it left quite a bit of smoke. The Engine light came on ( a clench ass moment) I had 15 miles left of range so the car needed fuel. I stopped to get fuel and noticed the engine light was still on afterwards. No smoke at all. When i got home the car sounded good, no smoke from exhausts at all. I turned the engine off for 5 mins, had a cuppa and then started the car again, got underneath and could see the Auxiliary heater working as normal. The engine light had gone out. Question is, I read that when the car gets low on fuel the Auxiliary heater has air ingress due to the offtake for the heater fuel line sits higher on the fuel tank than the lines for the engine. Does anyone know if this would cause the engine management light to show? Also, anyone else have any Auxilary heater stories?

just added one to my new S-type

maybe a reset on the ecu would be a good start.... disconnect your battery for 10 mins... reconnect. make sure you have required radio codes to hand. this is good place to start.. if it is still faulty then you need to look into it further

if it still clicks with a new battery then the starter is faulty, try and get a jump start first.

I think I have figured it out to turn the AVC setting down in the audio settings

The automatic volume control on my S-type is now driving me nuts. Anyone know how to disable it? I get to around 25mph on a small road and the volume increases, but in traffic it goes up and down and it's a tad annoying.

Any updates on this guys?

sounds like the same issue i had a few years ago... get an independant report mate.. only way to prove it

Hi Colin Thanks for answering :) and thanks for the links, I will try those sat nav disks as that looks a really good price. I did press the button on test drive but nothing happened.. it did not say there was no phone fitted... but i had a small amount of time to fiddle with it.. so hope it does connect with bluetooth. thanks once again :)

Hiya Guys Just bought a 2006 S-type with Satnav, not coming for a few days but I am wondering if it comes with bluetooth built in to the satnav? it has the phone button on the dash and on the sterring wheel but wondering how i would connect a phone to it. How would i find out if it has it or not? Also, did i read somehwere that i can command the controls for the radio hands free? ie. audible commands

Use t-cut and lots of elbow grease.... make sure you spend time on the whole light and not just the center

sounds like a loose exhaust mount or worst could be a worn bush or suspension mount... get it checked how much MOT is on the car? cannot be too bad if it has almost 12 months
