  3. Hi all, well 2 bottles of millers diesel injector cleaner and a full tank of esso diesel, 543 miles later and all is well, marked difference in performance so for the cost of 2 bottles and a tank of fuel it done the job, not saying it'll work for everyone but saved £70 on a cost of a terraclean
  4. Hi all What do you do to protect your sills on your x type, knowing what they cost to replace, prevention is better than the cure I'm thinking
  5. Hi I was advised to get a terraclean so I went to the mechanic who looks a my x type, he said, waste of time, put 2 bottles of millers diesel injection cleaner in then fill up the tank run it until nearly empty, he recons that's as good as a terraclean, ill be trying it this week, see what hapens
  6. Hi Tom the bridge looks ok a bit more up to date looking but they are running 6 months behind, a tunnel would have been better but I'm not sure it would have cheaper all though as you say with the high winds sometimes and banning high sided vehicles cant be good for the local economy when wagons have to go all the round to Kincardine to get to edinbourgh, but they are keeping the old one open for cars and buses, wonder what the tolls going to cost for the new one cheers

  8. Hi ' sorry I didn't anyone be that interested , well I took my new partner up to Scotland as she'd never been before so we stopped at Callender, Oban, Fort Agustus, Fort William, Inverness, lossiemouth, Aviemore, Pitlochry and just about everywhere in between then a couple of days in my home town of Dunfermline before heading back home to Hull. She was pretty much gobsmacked at the scenery and asked why I would leave such a beautiful country, well i'd seen it all before, now she wants to move to Scotland, women eh cheers
  9. Well just back from my little jaunt round Scotland, jag never missed a heart beat and 620 miles from a full tank of diesel, cant be bad
  10. True, but I think knowing the power of a pressure washer id have asked for the car to be moved first, common sense really
  11. well cleaned my x type before my trip to Scotland looked really nice so it did, we stopped at a mates on the way up for a break I had parked on his drive and went in for a cuppa, after 10 mins there was a knock at the door, it was the neighbour '' ive started pressure washing my drive, would you mind moving your car so I can get on'' yes I replied, when I went out he'd only splattered my pride and joy with mucky gritty water I said why didn't you ask before you started, just never thought was the reply, i'll get a sponge and wipe it down he says, yeah you do that I said if you want your arms ripped off, I had to use his washer to get most of it off and gently hand wash the rest. just where do some people get they're brains from.
  12. Hi all well I've had my x type 2 weeks now and loving it even though it has a couple of niggling problems, this is the second x type I've had, It was quite clean when I got it but I thought i'd pamper it a bit before I go touring Scotland for two weeks and give it a detailed clean when I get back, Scottish midges are ard and not easy to remove don't you know ha ha anyway I've been on a few jag sites and have to say this is the most friendly and helpful site, glad I joined

  14. thanks for that guys ive tried to re-programme the fob a few times but nothing so I read that you can get key fobs off ebay, had a look and yes you can get them off ebay but looking down the list they do 2002-2009 EXCEPT they arnt comapatable to 2003 which is what ive got, is this right? why the difference between 2002 and 2003 very puzzled
  15. Hi all, got a problem with the key fob on my x type diesel, basicly it wont work, I have to open the car with the key and put the key in the ignition and turn the ignition on straight away or the alarm goes off, only the drivers door unlocks the rest has to be done manualy, locking the car is done with the key and all the doors lock at the same time, ive tried a new battery in both fobs as described in the manual but to no avail its really annoying, any advice please. cheers
  16. Hi sorry peter should have said it was 2.0 diesel, i'll speak to my local garage see if they can give the fuel system a good clean out, thanks for the advice and i'll let you know if that cures the problem jim
  17. Hi all, ive just bought my second x type in 7 years, love these cars, my problem is compared to my last x type this one is so slow off the mark there's just no go in it, my last one pulled like a train going up through the gears, this one is like driving a 1.4 petrol, once you get to 50 it pulls fine but getting to 50 is like watching paint dry, there's no lights on the dash, there's no smoke, bangs or rattles and no turbo whoosh its just gutless, any ideas guys ?
