  1. what size fuse are your fitting?
  2. Your daughter sounds very clever if not a bit serious! I think it is a very good choice of name...assuming one is into Jimi Hendrix ?
  3. oh dear...serious subject then !
  4. oh wow! is she a production engineer?
  5. Hi Paul Its always worth getting the engine hot and then spraying some WD40 around the glow plugs so it can soak down the threads if poss. Also, if the plugs are showing signs of being reluctant to undo then wind them back in and out until they loosen but don't force them as if they break then you will have mega problems. Regards Trevor
  6. Welcome to the club Barry !
  7. Hi Steven and welcome to the club ! If you would like some club stickers I can send some to you if you would like to PM me your full name & address details I will have some sent out to you. Regards Trevor
  8. Hi Peter if the fuse keeps blowing then there is a current overload in the circuit somewhere....I would start at the bulb holder and look for signs of corrosion behind where the bulb sits and follow the wires as far as you can see. The wiring may be chafing on the bodywork? Regards Trevor
  9. Hi Vinendra and welcome to the club! I can imagine that there are lots of Jaguars out in Dubai? Lovely place...have been there a couple of times Regards Trevor
  10. Hi Barry and welcome to the club! I have found this extract from the Owners Manual which may help. Luggage Compartment LocksIf the vehicle alarm system is armed and the luggage compartment is opened using the key transmitter the alarm will not sound. The system will be rearmed when the lid is closed, provided the vehicle has not been disarmed. EstateOpen the tailgate by pressing the release button 2 under the tailgate trim. The tailgate can also be opened by pressing the luggage compartment button 1 on the key transmitter. The luggage compartment will be illuminated when the tailgate is opened. Note: If required, the key transmitter can be reprogrammed so that button 1 will open the Estate tailgate glass, instead of the tailgate. Contact your Jaguar Dealer/Authorised Repairer to have this feature enabled. Opening the tailgate glassThe tailgate glass can be opened separately from the complete tailgate. Press the release button 3, located on the reverse of the tailgate glass handle, and lift the tailgate glass. I can only imagine it may be a fault with the fob or the programming of the fob.Let us know if you find out anymore info on this one Regards Trevor
  11. HI Foolin and Steve...welcome to the club! well that is a very strange noise...the only thing I can suggest is that there is a split in some trunking somewhere and it is acting like a trumpet(?) by amplifying the resonance of the intake air. Hope some members can shed some light on it as it is rather strange ! Regards Trevor
  12. thats a huge difference in cost between petrol and diesel !
  13. I'm definitely in the Retirement Homes area, lol
  14. Hi Pete...and welcome to the club As Peter says...it is probably just a case of fettling in the covers...why were they missing in the first place? Regards Trevor
  15. any members done an exhaust mod on an S-Type before?
  16. Hi Mark....and welcome to the club ! I think you'll find that the Jag has a more spirited ride therefore compromising the rather wallowy ride from the Beemer for better handling round bends Enjoy it ! Regards Trevor
  17. Hi Mick certainly does sound like a release bearing fault...usually when previous owner has left their foot resting on the clutch pedal and constantly engaging the bearing until it overheats or drills through the clutch cover. As long as its just noisy then the chances are that it will just make a noise but still function okay Regards Trevor
  18. I'd agree with Diddler...possible Air Lock
  19. HI John...and welcome to the club ! Sounds like an wheel sensor fault....has anything recently occurred, work carried out, flood waters, etc.? Regards Trevor
  20. Hi Garry....and welcome to the club ! Enjoy your S-Type! Regards Trevor
  21. Once the world’s fastest production car, the Jaguar XJ220 from the early 1990s is the quint essential supercar of that time. Powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine instead of the 6.2-liter V12 originally promised and used in the XJ220 Concept, the British supercar could hit an incredible top speed of 343 km/h. What’s more, it also held the production car lap record around the Nurburgring from 1992 to 2000 at 7:46.36. Because the Jaguar XJ220 is such a classic, very few firms have been brave enough to modify it. However, earlier this year, Bulgarian tuner Overdrive Ad released their special variant of the XJ220 featuring a host of interior and exterior modifications. Now that very car is up for sale courtesy of Auto Performance in Germany with an asking price of 400,000 euros. Staring from the rear, the XJ220 by OVERDRIVE AD features taillights borrowed directly from the Ferrari 599 GTB. Aside from that, the changes are quite subtle and tasteful with the car now rolling on a set of wheels courtesy of ADV.1. The wheels measure 19×9 at the front and 20×14 at the rear and replace the original wheels of the car which were extremely old-fashioned. Next up, the car features completely custom LED headlights and inside the cabin, it features carbon fiber trim, leather and Alcantara upholstery, a McIntosh player as well as a Ground Zero stereo system. Completing the changes is a custom Akrapovic exhaust system. [Via Autoblog.nl]
  22. The UK-based car maker, owned by Indian steel giant, Tata, said sales had been boosted by strong demand for the new Jaguar F-Type and Range Rover Sport. JAGUAR Land Rover has accelerated to its best ever sales performance with more than 425,000 vehicles sold last year, up almost a fifth on the previous 12 months. Jaguar Land Rover has accelerated to its best ever sales performance with more than 425,000 vehicles sold last year, up almost a fifth on the previous 12 months. The UK-based car maker, owned by Indian steel giant, Tata, said sales had been boosted by strong demand for the new Jaguar F-Type and Range Rover Sport. On the Chinese mainland, its largest market, sales increased by almost a third to 95,000, while sales in the UK, the second largest market, increased by 14pc to 78,000. Andy Goss, the group sales operations director, hailed a “great year” with sales boosted in every global region by “some incredibly exciting new models launched to customers across the world”, including new engines and other enhancements to the existing line up. Jaguar, the quintessential British car marque, was the fastest growing premium car brand in Germany, the United States and India last year. The sales debut of the Jaguar F-Type, combined with strong demand for the XF saloon, resulted in volumes increasing by 42pc to nearly 77,000 vehicles last year. About 6,000 F-Types were sold last year at an average retail price of £58,000. Strong demand across Asia and China resulted in a new record for Land Rover sales too. The Range Rover Sport model reached levels last seen in 2007 and buoyed by the Range Rover Evoque model, total sales increased 15pc to 348,000 for the year. The acceleration in acitivity highlights the transformation of the business under its Indian owners, who bought the Midlands based car maker five years ago from Ford for £1.3bn. That is less than the UK company made in profits over the last 12 months. In November, Jaguar Land Rover reported half-year pre-tax profits for the six months ending in September up 42pc to £1.08bn, with revenues up 26pc to £8.71bn. JLR made £1.68bn profits on £15.8bn revenues for the whole of its last financial year. By John Ficenec 12:01AM GMT 12 Jan 2014
  23. Driver-friendly smartphone apps are coming to Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles in 2014. Jaguar Land Rover has announced a whole new host of apps that'll be available in vehicles by both brands later this year via the InControl smartphone integration system. With the help of Bosch and a number of third-party app developers, Jaguar and Land Rover will debut integrated in-vehicle app connectivity for phones with the Android operating system, as well as for Apple's iOS. Jaguar Land Rover is the latest company to bring apps to cars' infotainment systems, an innovation that will either greatly reduce distracted driving and make crucial information much more easily accessible or cause drivers to completely ignore the act of driving altogether. Here's some of what will be offered when InControl apps launch in JLR cars and SUVs: Clear Channel's iHeartRadio digital music service has become one of the most popular radio station apps, with access to 1,500 live radio stations. The InControl interface in Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles will allow seamless access to music and talk radio, with a safety-minded interface that's engineered for the in-car environment. Stitcher is a another radio app for smartphones that gives talk radio and podcast fans an easier way to find and listen to more than 20,000 news, talk, and sports stations from media outlets like NPR, Fox, BBC, and the Wall Street Journal. If you want to read the news (or rather, have it read to you), InControl will also feature Airmotion's News on Board app, a service that reads the news out loud so that drivers don't have to squint at their phone while sitting in traffic. A related app that will also have the ability to read the news out loud is Winston, a voice recognition app which will also double as a personal assistant. Another app that's been recently making waves is Glympse, which is a temporary location sharing technology that allows two cars to link up their navigation systems to share each other's location in real time via GPS. This will allow you to follow your friends along on multicar road trips, or to simply check your friends' progress when en route to a destination. Glympse hopes that this app will eliminate the constant "Where are you now?" phone calls. Jaguar and Land Rover drivers will also be able to access Parkopedia directly through the infotainment system, an app that's the world's leading parking information provider used by millions of drivers every month to find parking spaces near their destinations. The app's database has info on more than 28 million parking spaces in 40 countries around the world. In addition to radio and GPS apps, Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles will also feature Hotelseeker/Citiseeker hotel booking service. "Our new InControl Apps platform delivers on our vision to provide customers access to familiar, branded third party applications from their smartphones safely and conveniently in their vehicles," said Nick Gionis, chief engineer of infotainment at Jaguar Land Rover. Jaguar says InControl will be available in both Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles in 2014. By: Jay Ramey on 1/10/2014
