  1. Thanks for all the replies!!! I am amazed that noeone has a clue as to what this light is. I do believe every X type has one. However I have now found out what it's purpose is and it's so simple. I am also surprised that it is not mentioned in the handbook. Thanks anyway.
  2. Hi I have an xtype facelift sovereign. There is a drivers roof console with the parking sensor selector in it. Also there is a small grill with a lamp. The lamp has a mind of its own. sometimes it's on sometimes off. if I put the car headlights on it does come on. but also comes on at random other times. I have read the handbook page by page and nothing is mentioned. Any ideas please guys?
  3. I too have this problem but i am told by my optician that it's as much To do with my age as anything. He says eyes can get more sensitive to bright lights the older you get. So as my eyes get more sensitive so the lights on cars get brighter, a no win situation. My newly acquired X type seems no worse than my old car and I do have a heated screen.
  4. Hi just had a peek at the power steering fluid in my recently bought xtype. It looked a bit dark so I siphoned a bit out and it's nearly black. All the fluid I have ever seen was pinkish. Any thoughts on this? I do believe Jaguar do an additive to the fluid to stop squeaks. Is this black?
  5. Things got worse before they got better. Apart from the cooling fan running on the engine management light came on, the dash temp gauge went potty and decided to work only when it felt like it. The turbo cut out when the engine got warm. TOOK IT IN TODAY TO A JAG SPECIALIST AND IT'S THE CYLINDER HEAD TEMP GAUGE THAT'S AT FAULT. SORTED.

  7. Thanks that does help a bit. Think I must find myself a competent auto electrician as I cant check these things.
  8. Nope not one bit but thanks anyway.
  9. H I have a problem with the fan running when engine is switched off. I have read yards and yards about this problem and am still in the dark as to what might cause it and am open to suggestions PLEASE! X type 2009 2.2 diesel sovereign. Car works as it should except for this newly developed fault. Short or long run makes no difference but fan runs at full speed when engine is switched off. "It's not running before this". I have let motor idle before switching off but makes no difference. I have not tested how long the fan will run for but certainly couple of mins and still belting away. re start engine and switch off immediately and fan stops. No loss of cooling water and engine temp is ok. Any suggestions please.
  10. Hi Have I got you wrong or are you actually saying that most repairers are getting parts from breakers on behalf of insurance companys? I ask only because my insurance company told me that my 75 would be a write off due to the requirement of a body part "none available new" but lots at the breakers!
  11. Hi just read your problem. I needed a spare key for my newly acquired X type. I know you are a good distance away but BESTWICKS of Derby "see website" are ordering me a key. Jaguar is one of the only ones they don't stock. They guarantee a new key, cut and coded for £75.00. Of course they need you. id. and the car to do the job. Hope this might help other folk. There is a Nottingham company, 3D Autokeys. who do the same but at your home for £130. they cover a 40 mile radius from Notts.
  12. Hi I have just bought a low mileage 09 Xtype 2.2 diesel saloon. OLD MANS CAR? I am actually an old man "80" and the way mine drives I would very much say it's a young mans car. As for styling, you either like it or not! Get to drive one. Whoops just seen the date on the OP Wonder if he did get his Jag?
  13. Hi Jon. I too am new to the forum also new to owning an X type Our criterion was how easy it is to get in and out due to creaky joints. We "my wife and I" find it good for this due to the short seats. Peter.
  14. OK guys after a week of searching i have discovered the correct way to go about this. Google VOLVO wing mirror indicator lens and there you have several how to's. I am surprised that the jaguar wing mirror is identical to the Volvo one and the lenses fit!
  15. Thanks Andy failing all else it's perhaps worth a try.
  16. Hi Mine is broken and I have bought a replacement but cant see anyway to get into the mirror housing. Can anyone help please. thanks for looking. Peter.
  17. Hi. Just joined so i can chat with like minded folk. Been a Rover owner for past 15 years. Rover 75 con se which takes a bit of beating in the class. Decided in my old age that I need a Jaguar experience. Just bought a lovely low mileage X type 2.2D Sovereign which looks to be one of the last ones made. Not really got round to checking it all out but all seems good so far. Just found out it does not have a DPF which pleases me no end. Thanks. Peter.
