  1. It takes a while but does eventually clear the screen, and even if it’s only partially clear It’s better than nothing 😀
  2. Quick update - this turned out to be a broken connector that Jaguar wanted £800 to replace the rear window, but I was able to solder in 10 mins at zero cost!
  3. So after replacing the relay without success I asked the garage to take a look whilst it was in for an aircon service and they found the heater element connector tab had broken away from the element. I've managed to solder this back on and fingers crossed it will stay put, otherwise it'll be a combination of solder for the electrical connection and epoxy adhesive for mechanical strength. Thanks to those who commented. Rich
  4. Hi John. The entire heated screen is dead and my first port of call is to replace the relay as soon as I'm able to get to the nearest Ford garage (it's a FoMoCo part). Next step will be to check the earth strap and then I'll need to buy a multi-meter so that I can see whether the connector is live (if not that would indicate a break somewhere in the element). Failing all of the above, I guess I'll ask the garage to take a look when it's next in for a service. Many thanks, Rich
  5. Hi John, any chance that earth strap is also for the heated rear window as I have the same problem with the radio and, additionally, the heated reader window does not seem to work. Thanks, Rich
  6. Hi all. I recently became the proud owner of a 2008 XKR (I introduced myself earlier this week) and am keen to sort out a few minor niggles, the first of which is an inoperative heated rear window,I was hoping it might just be the fuse, but this seems fine so my next thought is a failed relay. Does anyone know where this is located as I'd like to change it before I go see the garage. Many thanks in advance.Rich
  7. Hi, I thought I'd stop by and introduce myself as I recently had an out of character moment of impulse that sees me the proud owner of a low mileage 2008 XKR. It's been nearly 20 years since my last lapse, when I purchased an Alpine Renault GTA V6 Turbo, but I have the say the XKR is on another level ..... wwwwoooooooowwwwwww !!!! Anyhow, I'd like to get to know as much about the car as possible and iron out any niggles, the first of which is an inoperative heated rear window which is a bit annoying in this cold weather. I've checked the fuse but it seems fine, so I'm wondering where the appropriate relay might be located as it's probably worth speculatively changing it before I visit the garage. Can anyone help? Many thanks and I look forward to being part of the club Cheers, Rich 😎
