Hi Rich, and welcome to the Club. We do love to see photos of our members' lovely Jaguars, so I am looking forward to seeing a gleaming STR! Enjoy both the STR and the Club

If yummy mummies want to show off their big status symbols I have no problem with that!

Hi Rob, and welcome to the Club! We always like to see photos of our members' beautiful Jaguars!

Hi Tristan, and welcome to the Club! You have a very desirable car there, and I look forward to hearing about your exploits with it.
-
Great to hear! That means that it has done about the same annual mileage as my XK, which is indeed rare.

Hi Mike, and welcome to the club. The SV8 must be a great drive: I had the XF 3.0D S and that was amazing, so yours must be even more so! You have had it more than 8 years, so I guess you must like it! Sorry I can't answer your question, but hopefully somebody will soon be along who can provide the answer, or tell you how to find it.

I had five Range Rovers over about a ten year period. I had two of them supercharged with a Sprintex supercharger, and modifications made to improve the handling at the same time. I still have massive affection for the Range Rover, but only in the full size version. I see little point in the Evoque or the Sport (save of course for the very wise decision to be as profitable as possible): The Range Rover should be a capacious, quiet, comfortable five seater with the ability to go anywhere. I used mine for towing a large caravan, and did quite a bit of off-roading in them. I have forded rivers deep enough to cause some sideways drift, driven off road through snow 2 feet deep, and climbed many 1 in 1 grass slopes. They always did everything asked of them, though I did damage the bodywork a few times coming off boulders which were larger than I thought. Sadly virtually none are used off-road now, and although they have all sorts of clever electronic systems their ability is severely limited by the choice of tyres suitable only for road use.

Hi Rodney, and welcome to the club. They are not designed to accommodate a full size spare wheel: Very few vehicles are nowadays. I think that the last full sized spare that I had was on a Discovery: For obvious reasons off-roaders are still fully equipped in that regard, though the wheels are stored outside the body. If you take the boot floor out the boot will obviously take the wheel, but space will be severely compromised. I did once contemplate doing this with a Volvo Estate, building a frame to lift the floor as required. As soon as I realised how much space I was losing I decided against it! How often do we have a puncture? Maybe once in every 15 years? It seems a pity to pay the money, lose the space and carry the weight for that. That said, I confess that I remain nervous about what would happen if I was unlucky enough to have a puncture - but I can live with it.

I am delighted to hear that you are loving the car: That is the main thing! I am not surprised that you are bugged by the damaged exhaust. I would be exactly the same. If this happened to mine I would take loads of photographs of the damaged areas from every angle, making sure that the photos were sharp and showed the colour issues. I would not take it back to the garage that messed it up: I would not trust them with it again. I would waste no time in getting three quotes from coachworks that I would trust, and get it repaired as soon as possible by the cheapest. I would then pay the bill, and demand repayment from the selling dealer, making it clear that if they didn't pay I would pursue payment through the small claims court. To me the most important thing would be to get it put right as soon as possible, so that I could enjoy the car again. If the bill turned out to be less than a couple of hundred pounds or so I would do what I suggest above, but forget it if they didn't pay. I would just want to be free of the aggravation of pursuing the matter. Though it would go against the grain to let them get away with it, there is no point in allowing the matter to prolong the grief.

I am sorry to hear that it didn't work out for you Phil: I trust that you have luck with your next car!

Thanks Peter, My daughter lives in New Zealand, and needs something to keep her car battery topped up: Her car is parked some distance from her house. They have a lot of sunshine most of the year, so it should work a treat. She is coming over in July, so I will probably get it for her to take back in her luggage.

Peter, what solar charger do you have?
-
Back in the day I had a Mini 1275GT. You could tour in it, but it could hardly be a grand tourer with a boot that size!
-
Having reread your post Paul I see what you mean: Nothing wrong with the post, just me barking up the wrong tree!
-
I have seen a few with the Le Mans circuit decal. I don't think it relates to the model, but rather is a decal that the owner bought and stuck on, but I stand to be corrected if anyone knows different!
-
Hi Paul, and welcome to the Club. As Andrew says, it is not uncommon for a few niggly jobs to be required to get them right at the outset, but then you should have years of enjoyment. I trust that you will enjoy both the car and the Club!
-
Hi Tony, and welcome to the Club. Nice car and a nice colour. You can now settle down to enjoying both the car and the Club!
-
I have not done a reset myself, so will leave it to far better qualified members to advise you. Did you charge the battery in the car, or take it out to charge?
-
How long did you charge the battery for? Did you charge it in the car, or take it out to charge it? Does the radio work? I am wondering whether the memory settings have been lost, in the which case a reset may resolve the issues.

I had the XF3.0D S, and found that a wonderful engine. It was a lovely quiet cruiser when I wanted it that way, but quite an animal when I opened up. I had no problems whatsoever with the engine. The only items that were less than perfect were the TPMS and the disc pad wear sensors.
-
It certainly is something which needs to be taken very seriously indeed. I would have thought that on both an automatic and a manual you could knock it into neutral: It will destroy the engine (which would happen anyway) but at least not be such a danger to life and limb!
-
I hope not, since there would be no steering. Riding on the back of a big cat would be kind of cool though!
-
Hi Tim, and welcome to the Club. That's a lovely looking S-Type you have there. Thanks for posting the photo: We do love to see photos of our beautiful Jaguars!

What maintenance costs to consider whern buying 3.0 Diesel
Leo replied to DO55MAC's topic in Jaguar XF Club
I had exactly that model, and loved everything about it: Even down to the sound system, which is the best I have heard in any car! I changed it before reaching the mileage you are talking about but, provided that it has been properly serviced and not abused, I see no reason why it should not be good for three times those numbers. -
I rely heavily on my CTEK, and it has never let me down in the last three years!
