  1. £7000 ONO - See photos and description - MUST BE SOLD BEFORE SATURDAY THE 29th! Location: Warminster, Wiltshire. Having just become a carer for my Mum, I need to change my daily driver for something good at frequent, short runs and clean air zone friendly. I'm switching to an EV, but the part-ex the dealership can offer me is awful! I'd rather see the car go to someone who appreciates a big Jag. This is all very short notice, unfortunately; I'm supposed to be picking up the new car next Saturday (June the 29th) at 4pm, so I need to get this sorted out before then. So, here's the details of the car; I'm providing the registration number as it'll let anyone who's interested check the history and MOT: Registration no.: YC09WVK Date of first registration: 20/05/2009 (after the production line closed, iirc) Colour: Azure blue metallic; interior, ivory with mocha piping and burr walnut. Mileage (as of today): 81634 Partial (?) service history (looks like there may be a gap before I owned it). All the usual stuff: satnav, cd autochanger in the boot, heated and ventilated front seats, all the controls work as they should. It's from the final year of manufacture, so it's got the DAB radio system fitted, along with Bluetooth for the hands-free phone. Four new Hankook tyres on it in February 2022. Receipts for everything are in the paperwork box I keep. It's my daily driver, starts first time; smooth, quiet, refined - what you'd expect from a big Jag. Some minor niggles: The "service required" warning is now on. It had a full service last year, since when it's done about 5000 miles, and is now due an intermediate service, presumably. The driver's side door seal is tatty, so there's a bit of wind noise at motorway speeds (which you notice, because otherwise the car is very quiet). The rear parking sensors can play up in the rain (the front ones are fine, and so are the back as long as they're not waterlogged). The electronic parking brake sometimes plays up after driving in very wet conditions (either won't engage, or won't disengage after engaging). Turning the car off and turning it on again usually clears this after 1 or 2 goes, but I rarely use the EPB anyway. It needs a damn good wash (the photos were taken on the drive just before I wrote this; incidentally, the Driver's Club and AA badges aren't going with the car). Air-con needs re-gassing; I had it done year before last, but it's now taking a long time for the temperature to drop; only noticing it now we've had a few days of decent weather. The dealership offered me less than £4k for it; I was expecting to take a hit, but not that much. With the current niggles and flaws I'm looking for £7000 ONO. If you're interested, you're welcome to come down, see it, kick the tyres, plug in the diagnostic computer etc. It's a lovely car, and I'll be sorry to see it go, but looking after my family has to come first. This has to be sorted out before Saturday the 29th of June (I could maybe push it as far as the Saturday morning, as I'm picking up the new car in the afternoon). I work at a secure site on the edge of Salisbury Plain, so if you want to contact me, either email [email protected] or phone on 07930 371 370; if you phone between 8AM and 5PM you'll almost certainly need to leave a voicemail, but I'll get back to you ASAP. Please note: If you're reading this after the 29th of June, the car is no longer available (as it will have gone to a dealer who won't appreciate it for what it is: the last big Jag that looked like a proper big Jag.)
  2. Hi all, I bought my first Jag last week and am looking for a couple of bits of advice; it's a 2007 XJ Executive TDVi (pre-facelift, the X350 version). 1) It only came with the one key. Call me paranoid, but I hate the idea of having no backup; every other car I've owned has had a spare key hanging up in the kitchen "just in case". I see adverts on eBay, specialists offering to come out and do the cutting and programming etc. and was hoping to get some advice as to what course of action to take. E.g.: Is it worth buying a spare key and taking it to a Jag dealership to get it programmed? Are there other options available? I'm guessing other people have run into this before. 2) Satnav DVDs. The car has the touchscreen setup with the DVD-ROM drive for the satnav behind a panel in the boot - the disk itself was missing (and the dealer knocked £60 off the price for that). Again, there are numerous examples on eBay and Amazon, running from £25 to £55, with the latest version seeming to be 2012. Is 2012 the absolute latest? I'm guessing probably yes, as an SD card-based system would have more storage, fewer moving parts and be more robust than an optical drive. Has anyone had prior experience with these disks? All advice and opinion is welcome. Thanks
  3. Well, it's taken me the best part of fifty years (ok, so if I only count years able to drive, 31) but I finally have my first Jag. There's been a lot of coveting down the years and some almost purchases, but I'm finally in a position where I could justify the purchase, so I took the plunge last Friday. I'm now the inordinately proud owner of a LWB 2007 XJ Executive TDVi; dark blue, cream interior, totally gorgeous; the family loves it, "silky" was how my 10 year old nephew described it to his Gran. I'll likely be posting on here asking various bits of advice. See you all around!
