  1. Hi Gary I've used Stephen Heywood Jaguar specialist who are based in Rochdale. Stephen has worked on Jags for many many years. Very knowledgeable. The garage is superb you have full trust in them whatever the job on numerous occasions they've saved me money. Definitely the best garage I've used. Ian

  3. Hi Kevin I had pretty much the same sounding fault as you. I took mine to a old school car radio repairers been in business for years and always seem to have the answers. So I'd already pulled the radio out of the car and he then bench tested it, within 30 mins he'd located the fault as basically a failed component I can't exactly recall what it was but it was broken. What he did with mine was use the failed component from a Land Rover radio which he had in his workshop. It was all fixed and perfect within the hour. He charged me £60. I'm not sure whereabouts you are but this repairer is in Bury just north of Manchester, if your not near there try and find someone with the same knowledge as my guy and see if they can do the same. It definitely sounds the same problem. If you need details of where I went let me know. Ian
  4. Hi I had a similar thing on an Audi A4. I was told it was a condensation type affect from infrequent use. I was told to use the car over a week or so checking the oil every couple of days to see if there was any white gunk appearing. It turned out that this was exactly it and all was fine after using the car a little more. One other thing I found was that my car was parked on a part of my drive which is sloped my mechanic suggested this good have had a baring as the oil was sat at a pronounced angle for a long period. Hope this turns out to be the same for you. Good luck.
  5. Hi Patrick thanks for your replies on this mystery subject! I've had no problems with the heating controls only the radio/cd. I think the info I got from a trusted independent jaguar specialist that to replace the radio was a much more simple option than trying to locate exactly what the problem could be was pretty good advice as it appears no one can actually pinpoint what the problem is. They quoted me roughly around £120 for a used fully tested decent condition radio/cd matching exactly the one that's currently in the car. There are a odd one or two on eBay now and again. Just to let you know mine is the single slot CD player no satnav. I got the impression from your posts that maybe yours was fitted with satnav. Obviously you having the heating issue might make it a little more than just radio replacing. Hope you get it sorted before you change the car if I discover anything I'll post it. All the best Ian
  6. 2007 S-Type. Single slot CD player and Bluetooth connectivity. Phone and radio/cd controls on steering wheel. So that's the kit now to the fault and its a strange one with no real answers found hence why I'm posting! Radio controls/buttons stopped working nothing worked on the dash controls or the steering wheel controls. The cd was still playing and I could hear it as the only button that did work was the volume! So to try and rectify the fault first I checked fuses all ok. Then I thought disconnect the battery see if it re-boots. Once I'd disconnected I needed to input the radio code which I have but alas the buttons to input the code will not work!! So I've pulled the radio out looking for loose wires non visible. Since but it all back together and still exactly the same. Any help suggestions or any one encountered similar problems please post. I have been told by jaguar specialists it might be better to purchase a reconditioned radio.
