  1. Can anyone tell me how to locate the oil coolant thermostat on my 2.2 Sportbrake? I am suspecting it needs replaced as I am experiencing low running temperatures (around 81-83C) and I am pretty certain the main coolant thermostat is functioning properly.
  2. For the wing mirrors, have you checked the following? On the screen, touch on setup, then security. You'll see options on/off for the wing mirrors on locking the car.
  3. This is what my 2014 XF 2.2 shows via my ELM327 plug-in (the 3rd one - first 2 were useless!). It seems to vary (when hot) between 80 and 85C. This is a bit lower than I have experienced with my Td5 Land rover engine which is around 90-92C when I use a dedicated engine monitoring system. It would be nice to know if anyone could confirm the Jaguar 2.2 engine coolant temperature specs.
  4. The rotating air control at the base of the air vent might be turned to the closed position, sometimes I forget this and wonder why I am not getting cool air!
  5. You've done a great job polishing it out. The "after" photos look superb. Well done! How long did that take you?
  6. You shouldn't have a problem unless you have the uprated sound system with the base booster in the spare wheel well. My spacesaver is 18" (I think that is the standard). You'll have to ditch the glue repair kit and its polystyrene housing, but there is still plenty of space under the spacesaver. I've got the Jaguar tow-hitch kit in there as well as the jack kit, jump leads, tyre-weld, first-aid kit.
  7. I've also accessed the Engineering Test Mode on my 2014 XF Sportbrake 2.2, but didn't need to start the engine via the "Foot on brake" (step 4). So to recap, my method is: 1. Press and hold trip button. 2. Press and hold start button (foot off brake) 3. Count 5secs, release trip button while still holding start. The engineering test mode comes onto the display and I could then release pressure on the start button and cycle through the test pages using the trip button. Pressing the start/stop button afterwards closes everything down. Can't say I understood everything I saw, but noted my fault codes as ACC (thanks Jon for explaining this) ICM, HDM and PSM. I'll see if I can find out what these are...…
  8. Glad everything is OK. The brakes are designed with only 1 sensor on each axle as its reckoned that the pads on each axle will wear at the same rate.
  9. Out of interest I entered my 2014 XF Sportbrake 2.2 VIN into the website "VINDECODERZ", as I wanted to check which add-ons had been included. Up popped 3 options, it was either an X type, an XJ6, or an X400, 2015 model with a 4.0L petrol engine based in California. I know it was a LHD export vehicle to Germany, and then came to France where I am now the proud owner, and having bought it through a Jaguar dealer. I've accessed the on-line service record and everything is OK. And it is definitely not a stolen vehicle! Seems rather unusual, anyone else had peculiar answers to their VIN search?
  10. Sounds like this is a wash water pump problem. If you google this there are a number of posts.
  11. Hi Trevor, I know what you mean about the window gazing😁. I've had my 2014 Sportbrake 2.2 just over 7 months now. One of the first things I did was to buy a smart battery charger from Halfords, it was the one designed for stop-start engines, I think about £100. I've connected up the charger battery side connections so that I can plug it in whenever needed in my carport. I've never had a problem with the stop-start, although the Jag dealer did say their warranty also covered the battery for 2 years. I recently was away for 3 months and everything was normal when I returned. From what I have read, the battery condition is usually always the first thing to look for when the stop-start isn't functioning. I also find the low battery warning comes up if you have the radio/audio system on for 3 minutes after the engine is switched off, but the stop-start should work unless you keep repeatedly overriding the warning. Also just a note to add - the stop start will only work if you depress the brake fairly hard. A lighter touch which is sufficient to stop the car will not activate the stop-start, but I'm sure you are aware of this,
  12. I've come across this old thread and would like to know if Iain or anyone else could elaborate on how to remove the EGR valve for checking/cleaning. I'm also looking at inserting a blank (with a 10mm hole) on the exhaust feed inlet flange, so would appreciate any step by step procedures and/or photos, as I haven't seen anything which covers the XF 2.2 diesel (2014 model) despite scouring the internet. I can see the flange but it is not easily accessible and looks like quite a lot of adjacent equipment may need to be disconnected/removed to get an adequate access for sockets.
  13. Brasso. Works wonders and when you buff it up leaves absolutely no trace of scratch or product.
