  1. Hi, the petrol x type is quite expensive to tax. Is there a way to reduce it's emissions and reduce to a lower tax band? Re mapping of some sort would help I presume. Any thoughta anybody?

  3. As suspected linkage was seized, all loosened up and adjusted by garage. Unfortunately that was the cheapest part of the repair bill. Be like a new car when its finished and sporting a new MOT. (rear shocks, new brakepipes front to rear, pads and discs all round, and new calipers at rear also)
  4. Car been sitting for 2 months. She atarted first turn, reversed out the drive no problem, but can not select drive or any forward gear. Have sprayed the gear linkage and sometimes if you work the selector up and down the gate it will select drive eventually. Garage thinks gearbox may beslipping and advise to look for a replacement. If thats the case, any recommendations where i can get a second hand box with a bit of a warranty?
  5. Take it back to the place that fitted the compressor. Should be a bit of a guarantee on their work.
  6. The hose on the air flow meter is burst?
  7. The 2012 upgrade works fine in my x type but obviously it does not know about the new AWPR and crossing the new Forth Bridge is fun as well.
  8. If you have a sunroof, check the drain for that is not blocked.
  9. Connect an OBD reader to the car and see what fault codes come up. With Jaguars, it can be a myriad of diferent things causing the same fault. Also, check your battery voltage. The battery needs to be in tip top condition.
  10. Try typing "misfire" into the search box. Comes up with loads of stuff. Some may be of use, some may not.
  11. At the moment my car is fitted with 225/45 17 tyres. They have covered a very easy 8000 miles. Everytime i pass one of those radar speed signs in villages it shows my speed as 28mph while speedo on car shows 31mph. I realise that those signs are not the most accurate in the world but they are consistent. I was wondering if I could go one size up to a 225/50 or perhaps a 225/55? Any thoughts?
  12. That would be the coffee maker. It was an optional extra on S types from 2006 onwards. There is a switch inside the glove box to switch on and off.
  13. Was at a car auction near me recently. A 2005, emerald green x type saloon 3.0 sports premium awd with a genuine mileage of 46,000 miles did not sell at £350. It was imaculate inside and out and sounded as sweet as a nut. Wouldn't take much more to secure it next time round. A lot of car for small money.
  14. I think you need to go to jaguar to pair the actual key to the car using jaguar software.
  15. Hope it is not a virus. I wonder if there is a site where you could first download to your laptop or desktop and then once virus scanned put to a usb to go in car.
  16. Looks like they sold you a duff one. Might have to splash out and get a genuine update. As it says the software on the memory stick is older than what is currently installed can you not revert back to what you had temporarily?
  17. Running sweet as a nut again.
  18. Flap not opening properly may mean the cable release needs adjusting. Is the breather hole blocked which would not allow the air to escape when filling up?
  19. I have Uniroyal Rainsports on my x-type. I find them fantastic in the wet, very good in dry, and very surefooted in snow and ice. Never had a wheelspin at all in recent weather.
  20. Fantastic advice there lol.
  21. Found one on ebay from a place in liverpool. Will let you know if all goes well or not so well.
  22. Looks like sound advice. Recently changed my transfer box oil and now I need a new or reconditioned one. (Transfer box)
  23. Has started. Can anybody recommend somewhere I can buy a reconditioned transfer box that is guaranteed. Cheers, Steve...
  24. Hanging onto low gears would normally suggest low oil pressure in the g/box and possibly a low oil level in the box.
