XF battery replaced - still showing low battery warning
Tomato replied to Les1967's topic in Jaguar XF Club
So Les, I think you have a case if the original issue was raised under warranty if not fix the warranty agreement should still apply. Suspect the garage may play its a different issue, but worth exploring. -
XF battery replaced - still showing low battery warning
Tomato replied to Les1967's topic in Jaguar XF Club
Is your car if a 2019 is it still covered under the manufacturer warranty, think it 3 years unlimited mileage, worth checking? -
Personally if no history change the belts. History could be losted paperwork, was not mandatory to use jag dealers but suprised there is none at all. Can look at mot history which give you a clue of history and what issues car may have had.

Been thinking the same recently, seem people have forgot how to drive post lockdowns. 😔

Can try a disk cleaner sometimes help, can you hear the cd's still spining when you insert them?
-
Personally I would walk away from the modded one. Remap ok, but removing DPF and driving the car on a public road is illegal and attracts a £1k fine and is a MOT failure. Remaps are fine, but would worry what else had been done, the fact you mention other tweaks set alarm bells ringing for me.

Vapour or white smoke coming from my fuel filler.
Tomato replied to Michael Story's topic in Jaguar XF Club
White smoke usually an indicator of water in the system somewhere -
Cambelt change will be a set mileage or number of years which is 10 from memory but others can correct me. Personally, unless evidence of a change, I would do for peace of mind. All diesels of this era (all makes) suffer from DPF issues, regular maintenance and longer drives throughout its life will help, hence why histroy on the diesels important. Petrol is a good option, if you want real fun, get a v8, they can manage 32-33mph on a long run 😀

Wanting to buy an XF Sportbrake - what should I look out for please?
Tomato replied to vroom6sri's topic in Jaguar XF Club
I pay into a service plan on a 9 year old XF which is £40 per month. It covers most servicing items including belts, engine is a 5ltr petrol variery so the most expensive version to service. Front brake change £700 Rears £550 Rear tyres £300, Fronts £250. All main dealer prices. Can get cheaper through specialist but use Main dealer due to the car being the RS variant and protection of the value (hopefully 🤣) -

Sportsbrake is the estate. Dont get the lower powered diesel, you will be constantly wanting more power, its a heavy car. I would personally get the 3ltr if doing the mileage, its a much better engine and will never really be understress unless you make it 😀 -
Why do you think it is rare?

door Rear door central locking and window need help
Tomato replied to DJtr1cky's topic in Jaguar XF Club
I suspect it will be the door control module, if they get wet they are tempermental, although if it was you driver window that was open, suprised it would effect the rear, although not sure of the layout of the control units in the jag. Could be a loose wire going to the control unit too. -
Almost sounds like something was blocked, not had any other work done on the car lately?

I have 825W system in my car, probably best car system I have had in a car in terms of sound. Not sure how it compares to the B&W though. It was certainly better than the upgraded Meridian system I had in a newer XE, the range ability was much greater. I do personally used a local main dealer, (not north of the border) they have been good, but wanted to keep with the main dealer for the history due to the rarer variant I own and they cover most things on extended warranty. Main issue with main dealer is they are often not the cheapest and customer service and knowledge often is nothing special. Normally I use a specialist, I do for my other cars I own.

Always a risky business buying a car from distance, there are no shortage of XF's around, my key advice is don't rush. The age of the cars like any other cars this age will have things that go wrong, and while all the extras on these cars are great, it is often costly to repair, do your homework on the gadgets. If a dealer wont give you a VIN, would worry me a little, personally I would walk away. These cars have great engines, but must be regularly serviced, if you have none on any of the cars that would make me a tad nervous. You may want to invest in a mechanical check before purchase. The other thing which is a problem for most manufacturers of this era and a particular issue for the 3l diesel cars is the DPF, it causes a lot of issues particularly if the car has not been driven a lot or has done mainly short journeys. Others may call out specifics on the particular cars as mine is a petrol variant.

If its a full service history with the same garage, can always ring them and ask to confirm as they should have records. If its not been changed, would certainly look to get it done, cannot always tell how they are unless really worn or something obvious.
-
I had same issue on XE, never found a solution, seemed to reset itself after 30 minutes or so of car being switched off. Happened every 3 months or so, Jaguar could never find the fault 😞
-
Would celebrate when behind the wheel, had a new jaguar fail the final inspection as all the options had not been fitted. Ended up with a big discount and some of the missing options retro fitted for free, but it took 2 months to sort 🤣
-
How did they find the fault location, was it obvious, sounds like one of those problems easy if you know how to diagnose?
-
If there is no online history after 2018 as you say could have been serviced elsewhere. If there is no paper work to back it up, would be a little skeptical as plenty of cars out there that do have. Maybe able to negotiate a discount of the car?

Rubber trim coming away from chrome window surroundo
Tomato replied to smokeyhillstreet's topic in Jaguar XF Club
Funny enough just noticed the same problem on mine yesterday (2013). Does not appear to be letting in water. Not had a chance yet but was going to see if can find a replacement then find a video to see how hard to do a DIY. -
I do have a spare wheel in my boot, can take pictures if needed. Was factory fitted.
-
Assume your model needs ad blue, the 2litre xe have a rouge error message, not sure about the 3litre. Should have less issues as much newer.
-
I think it is a precautionary measure as it takes a while to update and can sometimes get corrupted if its stopped. Others on here that have upgraded will have a better view. 3 minute battery warning is a "feature" 🤣 if you have checked both batteries (if your car has 2) and the alternator is good and you use regularly, would not overly worry

From memory you can buy a ipod lead with a aux adaptor to plug into your car. Again from memory you do lose a bit of sound quality, but should work if you have an aux port. Something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vzer-Connector-except-Shuffle-iPhone/dp/B01L7PTQ6A/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=Cable+From+iPod+to+Car&qid=1649399499&sr=8-3 But shop around for better quality
