When your looking for an XK8 (I've just bought one) you can check its MOT history (online) it will give you a good idea as to its history and indicate what work was needed which will indicate whether its been hammered or looked after. Try and get a good look underneath on a garage hoist you get a better idea of how much rust there might be, rear wheel arches are prone, and see if there any Oil leaks rom engine gearbox and deterioation of any gaiters. They are fantastic cars if slightly expensive to run. Always use a high octane fuel as you will get better economy and a cleaner engine.
