  1. Hi Kevin, Welcome to the club, enjoy yourJag, happy motoring :), Dave
  2. HI Dell, Do you have the name of the garage? Thanks, Dave
  3. Hi Welcome to the club and Jag ownership. Sorry I can't help with an independent, I'm a bit off your beaten track. Best regards, Dave
  4. Hi Searay, I bought my S-Type from an independant with a 6 month warranty, the car had a good history with a single owner prior to my good-self. I took the precaution of getting the AA in to inspect the car, seemed costly (£280.00) but gave a certain amount of peace of mind - he did identify a couple of very minor issues. I've had the car for a little over 9 months and other than service/brake pads/tyres all has been good. Best regards, Dave

HI Leeper, I'm not aware of anything being organised but would be interested in a meet if there was sufficient interest. BR Dave
  6. Hi Dean, The car looks hot like the registration, is the colour on your S-Type original or your choice? Great alloys - what exhaust system are you sporting? Best regards, Dave
  7. Hi Wayne, My squeak disappeared on its own, I did nothing not even a squirt of WD40 - doesn't help you much as you say you've already tried WD40 without perminent success. Good luck
  8. Hi Ray, Welcome to the club. You've got a good looking Jag there, it looks great in your photos. Best regards, Dave
  9. Hi John, thanks for your input here - I don't seem to have the problem anymore - I keep a watching eye on it, but may consider to replicate the things you suggest just to be thorough. Best regards, Dave
  10. Hi Robinp, It's been a couple of months since the above post, any chance of giving an update of tyre performance? Best regards, Dave
  11. HI Harrison, I guess I had the same thought a decade ago, I had totalled my car and was looking at a suitable replacement. I adored the S-Type and was seriously looking at buying one but thought it was an old blokes car. Anyway, ten years on, I've bought my first Jag, a S-Type - I'm 44. All the best, Dave
  12. Hi Jake, Welcome to the cllub and renewed Jag ownership. As you say the car's going to be in fine company :D . Sorry can't help with the satnav, have you searched on ebay? Best regards, Dave
  13. Hi Muppet65, I've always been a manual fan, stating automatics are for boring old farts! However, this year I bought my first auto, a S-Type V8 Sport. I must admit the kick down response takes almost a second to effect a change, but this is quicker than you can change a manual gear. In addition, if you bury the pedal, you not only get a decent kick-down but it drops at least two gears, possibly more depending on road speed. With the "Sport" there is always the S button which makes the kick-down deeper and keeps it in that gear for significantly longer - well above 5000 rpm. My pitfalls are watching the needle on the fuel gauge sweep from right to left and also the chance of having a close encounter with the Plod. My Jag is a 04 plate and had just shy of 79k on the clock, one bonus it had one owner from new, and generally he looked after the car. It's a solid car and you get hell of a lot for you money. Good luck with finding your Jag, Dave
  14. Hi Maxbrod, You could use a gentle heat gun or similar in an attempt to soften the glue and help its removal. Don't for get to post some pictures of the job during and after. Best regards, Dave
  15. Good run out this weekend, averaged 27.5 mpg before refuelling. :D
  16. :D
  17. Hi MacSTR, I'm amazed at your experience with other sites and can fully understand why a site might loose members, while I don't agree with text speak there's no need for that level of correction/moderation! Is the Piston Heads Forum any good? Best regards, Dave
  18. I've learnt something new today, thanks Steve
  19. This is excellent news, although I've never been clamped, I read the stories in the press where the clampers charge extortionate amounts to release the car, whether from the roadside or lockup (if towed away). I dare say there will be a number of issues until everyone is wise to the cowboys and illegal clamping.
  20. I've not tried it myself but would be interested on results as my Jag is eight years old already.
  21. I must admit, this is perhaps the other firnge benefit as my house is a few hundred metres from the town by-pass, I'm amazed at the amount of dust that gets kicked up and covers the car. I notice it the most when I've been travelling on work and the car has been sat for a few days. There's a justification if ever I heard one!
  22. As the wife doesn't drink, when we go out for a meal, I normally drive out and she does the return journey. I suppose I must admit, she is a very good driver :D Best regards, Dave
  23. Hi Shaun, The finished job looks stunning, good job mate. It would have been nice to see a before, during and obviously you've done the after phot, perhaps next time - good work. Best regards, Dave
  24. Hi All, Does anyone have any recommendations in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire or Worcestershire? Best regards, Dave
  25. HI Dan, Welcome to the forum and Jag ownership. It looks like you've got a decent motor there. Mine still brings a smile to my face when I drive. Happy motoring, Dave
