  1. Hi John, Welcome to the forum, I hope you're going to post a few pictures? Best regards, Dave
  2. HI Jeff, Welcome to the forum. Are the wheels factory or after market? If factory, have a read through the handbook as they should be detailed there. Best regards, Dave
  3. Hi Anthony, welcome to the forum, glad to have you on board. Best regards, Dave
  4. Hi Andy, welcome to the forum. I had a similar problem with my S-Type, but it didn't blow cold. All sorted now :)
  5. Hi Colin, Had a breeze through it last night and researched a couple of topics this morning. The manual has 3316 pages (going to take some reading :) ) it has the sort of detail I need to strip a few things down. Hopefully all things being well I may make a few "how too" posts. Best regards, Dave
  6. Hi Colin, I did chuckle when I saw the HOT status, especially knowing the content :P , Should I mention the wife had an Alfa? A 156, which was actually very good with none of the faults the brand is plagued with. I think you need to speak to your daughter in law, buying you Grants for wallpapering - doesn't she know you're supposed to use paste? As for the night cap, I'm thinking Bushmills. Best regards, Dave
  7. Hi Stephen, welcome to the forum, good luck with a solution to your gearbox issue. Dave
  8. Hi Mandxo, My S-Type had the same problem, discovered when I first viewed the car and one of the issues resolved before we completed on the sale. I'm not fully sure of the fix but will call them and see if I can get the detail for you. Regards, Dave
  9. Hi Amanda, Welcome to the forurm, sounds like you're enjoying your first cat. Well you certainly do things in style, your first car and you start with an X-Type, what size engine does it have? Hope you're going post a few pictures? Where about in the States are you from? Best regards, Dave
  10. Hi Colin, Workshop manual on CD arrived today - Dave is a happy bunny :)
  11. Hi Colin, I was very surprised, guess my question "how accurate is the message centre / trip computer" as I'm taking the mpg from this. Previously I owned a Pug 406 Coupe 3.0 V6 and was only getting slightly better performance. I think I'll make a couple of records each time filling up and miles achieved and work the mpg manually. My car is automatic (my first) my left foot (could be a movie) doesn't know what to do. Best regards, Dave
  12. Hi Geoff, Great news you've got the car sorted to your satisfaction, as you say you've had to pay a few bucks to get it done, you're fortunate you've got an independent whom looks after you. Happy motoring mate, Dave
  13. Hi Evan, welcome to the club, I look forward to seeing your posts/phots of your chosen car. As to some of your questions (can't answer them all), I've recently bought my first Jag - about 5/6 weeks ago - a S-Type 4.2 V8 Sport. I agree with your observation about the earlier V8 (namely 4.0 vs 4.2), the research I did prior to buying suggested the newer 4.2 a better powerplant. In my short experience, I haven't experienced early changing up when driving 'spiritedly' and if that were the case you do have the 'J' gate or the sport mode, both of which keep the system from changing early and holding the engine until it reaches higher revs. So far, other than a slight glitch with the engine malfunction light (which resolved itself), the car runs very well on unleaded. Good luck with your search, Dave
  14. Hi Martin, welcome to the forum. What a nightmare with your XJS - typical of the insurers, no change with them. Best regards, Dave
  15. Hi Stephen, welcome to the forum, what model of S-Type have you bought?
  16. Hi David, welcome to the forum, nice car, what colour is it, silver/blue? Regards, Dave
  17. :) :) :) Made me smile but I see a slight flaw in your synopsis - the pensioner is driving on the pavement and thereby misses the speed hump -_-
  18. Okay, so I was a little premature breaking out the champagne :( Car was parked over the weekend adn we've had persistent rain pretty much all weekend, I check the boot this morning and there's a cup full of water in the wheel well. Thankfully there were a couple of tracks below the lower part of the seal where the latch for the boot is. When I get chance it's time for a bit more sealant, this time around the entire seal. I'll let you know how I get on.
  19. Hi Nick, Adminstrator Steve is the man you need to speak to, you can either wait until he's online or PM him. Regards, Dave
  20. Outstanding Peter, clearly we have the same taste in cars, mine is also a V8 Sport in British Racing Green, a little older than yours, mine was first registered in March 2004 and when I bought a few weeks back, it had 79k miles on the clock. The miles are a little under average for the UK and with one previous owner I've got a decent car, it has a couple of niggles, I've had water leaking into the trunk, an engine malfunction light came on last week (but only stayed with me for 36 hours and I've seen nothing of it since). If you look in one of my detailing posts, you'll see I've taken all the wheels off for a little deep cleaning of wheels and arches. In doing so, I found each of the wheels rusted to the hub, this was a bit unusual, never experienced this with other cars. What about you, how are you liking your car? And when are you going to post some pictures with the beach as a back-drop? B) B) B) Best regards, Dave
  21. HI Colin, Well I've been quite impressed with the V8 so far, i've been mostly commuting to work - a 34 mile round trip sometimes extended to 50 miles when I have to collect my son from Newent (Junc 3 M50). I've had a run down to Southampton. In general I'm getting 28-30 mpg which is not bad when I'm cruising a little over 80 ;) . Generally I try and be progressive in my acceleration but quite often I've felt the need to floor it both in and out of sport mode :D :D :D. The mpg mentioned above is as per the trip computer on the dash. I'd have thought you'd have more than 34. Best regards, Dave
  22. Hi Colin, Glad you like the pub :) Yeh, mine has got the bigger engine but with it comes the thirst , you beat me hands down with better economy, what sort of mpg do you get from yours? I'm not too far from Ross, I live at Ledbury which is off junction 2 of the M50. As to your fraternisation with non-jaguar types, we should not hold it against them, as you say not everyone is perfect, but you bring a beacon of light to them and hopefully when the time is right bring them to pastures new - just do mention all the electrical faults you've been enjoying ;) Best regards, Dave

  24. HI Peter, Welcome to the club, what model of S-Type do you own? You'll definately have to put some scenic photos of your Jag on the forum :D Best regards, Dave
  25. HI Matt, I've just trawled through the post list which list the members by number of posts (highest at the top lowest at the bottom), didn't get all the way to the bottom, got to end of page four, but even at the bottom of page four there are thirteen members (not including the three of us) who live in the West Mids area. Admittedly some have been active for a number of months, a couple Dec last year. There are a larger portion of members I could not determine location as it was not entered on their profile page. Suffice to say, there is a healthy number of individuals who come from this region, not sure why no others have replied to your original thread - perhaps they'd rather not meet up ...... <_< One option could be to PM each in turn and invite to a meet? What do you think? Do you have a venue in mind? Regards, Dave
