Undertaking, you mean it's not legal!?! Just joking but any visitors to our fair country could be mistaken to believe that it was legal. I think the new rules which seem to be practiced at the moment also extend to lane one only used by HGVs, lane two is the new lane one for cars, and lane three is normally for overtaking. Obviously, as everyone jumps into lane three at the first hint of one truck starting to overtake one in front, how many cars do you see race up lane two to beat the queue? Brett, you've got me on my soap box, I'm also amazed when people use their indicator to indicate change of direction, most do it with little regard to the fast approaching car and seem to have the impression "I've indicated therefore I have the right to pull out!" What ever happened to the basic Mirror, Signal, Mirror, Manoeuvre?

Sage words Brett My ten penneth on the chevrons, when you comply with them, do you find the car in front never seems to move over? Not that I condone those who tail-gate, but I have found it necessary on occasion to close the gap slightly giving the car in front the suggestion that I do in fact want to get past. For my part, if a car is tailing me and I've no intention of going faster, it costs nothing to let him past (and lets face it - speeders/agressive drivers are male), the bonus in letting him past, if there are rozzers further up the road they can stop him instead of me :D

Hi Gerry, Shame about your 'car parts man' as you know the dealer is going to be top dollar. The Vehicle Identification Number which the dealer will need to help him get the right part can be seen from the outside of the car on a plate in the lower left edge of the windscreen. Re: you lumber support are you driver's seat buttons like the ones below?

Hi Geoff, After doing a bit of research online last night (ask the expert (or something similar)), one suggestion with my specific fault was to carry out some very basic checks: Check the filler cap was closed properly; Check oil levels; Check coolant levels. I did all these this morning but when I started the car to go into work, the malfunction light was still illuminated but now other warning or words in the trip meter location. However, two hours later, I had to go and visit one of our suppliers - the journey there, the return journey, the journey to pick up my lad from nursery there was no malfunction light - strange. Anyhow, I'm still taking it into the dealership in the morning - so will hopefully get a clean bill of health or at the very least a fault code and then £££££ :( As before I'll post here to let you know how I got on. Hi Julian, Apart from the lack of comment on this thread, have you made a decision on the conversion? I'm interested as with the ever increasing cost of fuel I'm considering the same modification. I think, providing you find a suitable garage to complete the conversion, it will over a few years pay for itself but I guess the key thing is fiinding the suitable garage. HiGeoff, On my return home from work today, the engine malfunciton light came on mine, as with yours, I had no lack of performance. I spoke to the dealership where I bought the car, they suggested one of the sensors may be faulty and suggest connecting to a dyagnostic machine to read the failure code. The car's booked in, so will hopefully have the answer for my problem, whether it is the same fault as yours I don't know. I'll follow up with a post when I know more. Regards, Dave

Hi Peter, Your point of "folks that insist on driving 15 to 20 mph below the current limits" plagues the entire land, I often travel to Dorset and opt to use the A roads via Swindon, Tidworth and Salisbury. Some of these are great roads with decent straights and both sweeping and sharp corners. The downside, as you mentioned, are those than either can't or do not wish to drive at the speed limit (I accept, there are different road conditions which dictate a lesser speed) but I do sincerely wish they'd just get a move on. Then there are the folks who are content in sitting behind the slow-coaches unwilling or unable to overtake the car in front. Generally I don't have a problem with them until they don't leave space for anyone to pass them and then the pass the slow-coach. Instead they sit right behind the car in front which means anyone who wants to overtake must overtake more than one car. Worse still are those muppets who see someone overtaking and then close the gap so you are forced into a dangerous situation of slamming on the brakes and falling back into your original position or forge ahead and make the move. Obviously this follows with the obligatory flashing of headlights and the occasional hand gesture. :o I'll get of my soap box now...... :D d

Hi Tony, welcome to the club, you've got a lovely car there, are you going to post any pictures? Re upcoming events, when you click into Club/Community you'll see 'Calendar' which seems to used exclusively for birthdays? However meets/events seem to be detailed in the forums whether specific to your model of car, general or in Jaguar lounge. My advice would be to keep your eyes open. Regards, Dave

Having driven front-wheel driven cars for the last 24 years, my S-Type V8 Sport is the first car (I've bought) which is rear-wheel drive. I've had the car for almost a month and I'm learning how the car handles and how to get the best from the chassis. I appreciate the car is relatively heavy but I'm considering an alternative suspension set-up. Can anyone suggest an improved set-up, perhaps different shock absorbers or springs? I'm also considering a 5-10 mm reduction in ride height - again any suggestions? Thanks, Dave

Hi Gerry, Reading your post above I knew exactly what you meant, so just to check the rest of the world, I launched Google (images) typed in "S-Type bonnet liner" and the first couple of pages were all of bonnets raised showing the lining predominately used for noise reduction. The first dozen or so pictures were of Jags, mostly S-Type but a few XJS managed to get in there. The other oxymoron, was "hood" - you gotta love the Americans. Scolling on a couple of images, they were from breakers, others were from information sources (i.e. not selling). Regards, Dave

Hi Gerry, I'll ask the obvious, do you have a breakers nearby? Have you looked on ebay? You could always try SNG Barratt (www.sngbarratt.com) or Racing Green Jaguar (www.thejaguarshop.com). Hi Ian, Did you have any success in eliminating the squeak? I ask as I've recently bought an S-Type with the same problem, at the moment it doesn't bother me as I'm either listening to the engine (V8 power :D ) or I've got the stereo pumped up. I dare say in the coming years it may become more of an issue - we'll see. All the best, Dave

HI Beduffbloke, I don't have any front parking sensors fitted to my S-Type, but have you tried to go to your local dealer and ask them? You can get a part number and price from them without having to commit to paying them for the privilege. Good luck, Dave

No! Say it isn't true? You've got the presence on the road with the XJ and you've got to keep an eye on the fuel gauge (but you are driving a diesel) but that's no excuse for driving like an "old person". Yes the XJ has a lot more weight than the Scirocco but has a bigger turbo engine :) :) :) and deserves to be driven. :D
