  1. Hi Simon, That was all happening in the last forum I belonged to, "406 Coupe Owners Club", it was a lot more active compared to this club, lots of chat, lots of posts and meets. Due to the number of meets it had its own section which included the after meet phots and comments - as you say peeps saying what a good day was had by all. Yes the weather helps but we are in the UK. The pub meet is alway a good one especially where there is a bit of a gap between a bigger meet. There is a meet in September at Warwick Caste - plenty of time to arrange a couple before then. Best regards, Dave
  2. HI Mike, You going to post some pictures of your new acquisition? Always like to see a well turned out Jag B) Regards, Dave
  3. Hi Shaun, Welcome to the forum and Jag ownership, you'll need to post a couple of pics so we can all appreciate your lovely Cat. Re noisy tickover, did you buy the Cat private or trade? If trade you could always take it back and ask them to look at it. Unfortunately I can't off you much more other than go to google and type in ask a jaguar mechanic. They can be quite helpful. Good luck, Dave
  4. Hi Scott, Welcome to the forum, hope to see some phots of your lovely Cat. Best regards, Dave
  5. [And Dave, I would be lying if I said I had not thought about getting what my heart would enjoy and ignore the running costs. But would need to be practical. But who knows what might happen in the future.] Hi Martin, the way I look at it, in a few years (maybe a decade or two) either the price of fuel will be extremely prohibitive to use a private motor car or the government will put such a heavy duty on not so fuel efficient cars that it will not be practicable to run one, I think the government will force us mere mortals in to poxy town run arounds with either electric or at the best hybrid engines that there will be little or no fun in driving, so while I can I drive with a big smile on my face :D V8 power :D :D :D Good luck with your search. Best regards, Dave
  6. Hi Mike, Welcome to the forum and Jag ownership. It would be a nice start to see some phots of your new cat - make us all a bit envious :D As to a specific Jaguar track, proving ground I'm not aware of any and I guess if the dealer wasn't aware of anything it doesn't exist. The alternative would be to use existing tracks, Thruxton or the like, the only down side would be finding a pro driver who specialises on Jags. If you do find something make sure you post it, I think there would be substantial interest. What's your experience with private insurance? I've just re-done mine for a 4.2 v8 which came in under £260 :D :D Best regards, Dave
  7. Hi Dave, You've had the cat a week now, hopefully you've found all the gadgets? What's your view? Are you still grinning from ear to ear? Your pic in the avatar looks good, are you going to post a few more - higher res of cause :) Best regards, Dave
  8. Hi Danny, Welcome to the forum, hope to see some pics of your cat posted. You've had your car for almost six years, what sort of mpg do you get out of it? Best regards, Dave
  9. Hi Simon, Sounds a bit like the meet we had at the Heritage Museum - six cars, lets hope we can follow suit and multiply that by five for next year. You'll have to post some phots of the Classic Car show and let everyone know what they're missing. Best regards, Dave
  10. Hi Simon, A bit short notice for me but as you say, perhaps next year especially with a J.O.C. stand. Are you going this year? Perhaps you could investigat a stand for next year? Best regards, Dave
  11. Hi Graham, Looks good, you can count me in, may even bring the family ;). If there was enough interest from the club do you think there would be club parking or a concession maybe? Best regards, Dave
  12. Hi John, I bought my dream S-Type this time last year, I would have liked to have found a newer model but to be honest the price was in the right ball-park so off I went. The Jag is a 4.2 V8 Sport and had a good service history with 79 thousand on the clock. There were a number of minor issues identified by an AA inspection and apart from one (discussed with the garage = discount) the garage put them right. I've been running the car for more than a year now and the car is on 92 thousand miles and just sailed through its MOT :D, while on the inspection ramps I had a chat with the MOT technician and he remarked what good condition the car was in - always good to hear. I've had a couple of things which have needed to be done over the last 12 months but have taken these as wear and tear. In the near future the front pads will need changing and a little more long term I may replace the suspension. My previous car was a pug which I owned for almost 10 years and took it from 39k to 197k miles, as above most of the issues were wear and tear especially as I use the car every day (as with the Jag now) and also a double return trip to Bournemouth once a month (son lives down there with his mother). A good car, well maintained and with a budget to replace items that wear should stand the test of time, yes there are going to be those annoying things - stone through the radiator etc. Only time will tell. Good luck, Dave
  13. Hi Simon, Well from the general photo it looks a good job and I think the gold works very well. I know what you mean about leather, sooo much easier to keep clean and the occasional conditioning, have you looked at swapping the seats out with the leather equivalent? You may even benefit from some extra features as the wiring loom would accommodate. I've had leather in my last five cars and it would be a must have on any subsequent cars, yes it can get a little hot when the car has sat out in the sun but it is so much better on many levels. Best regards, Dave
  14. Will do, I'll try and book for this week.
  15. Hi Burl, uploading pictures is a little pain as you need to put them on the web - I use photobucket, obviously you need to register for an account, it's all free, it's only when you get beyond a GB that you may have to pay for storage. Bearing in mind you need to keep the photo there, you use the url to link it to this site and if you move the photo or delete it the url is lost/the photo lost from this site. Within photobucket you can create your own files/albums and make some adjustments to the photo such as cropping it or resize (decent cameras give you a picture which could be around 2.5MB which is great quality but large for a forum like this) so resizing allows you to reduce it to a more manageable size - which allows you to upload them quicker. Admittedly you can do this on your PC, you don't need to crop and resize on photobucket. There are other similar photo storage sites. Once your photos are uploaded you copy the url and can either post them in the Gallery or in a post - for inserting in a post you select the image icon above (bottom row 11th from the left) you paste the url in there and hey presto you're in business :D Obviously we'll see if this has worked Regards, Dave
  16. HI Simon, they look good tucked away beneath your alloys - I must admit I didn't spot them when I looked at the pic earlier - clearly a discrete job . Did you take the calipers off, strip down and paint? My rears need some attention, as like yours they are rusty. Last year I took the wheels off to give a deep clean, arches too, I didn't have time to do the calipers so gave them a good clean but looking at them the other week they need some tlc - maybe a job this summer :) Do you have any jobs planned? Best regards, Dave
  17. Hi David, have you tried google or ebay? If they're not good you could always try: http://www.justjagsuk.com/index.php http://www.sngbarratt.com/Home.aspx Good luck, Dave
  18. Hi Burl, you've convinced me to go ahead and get mine done, I'll let you know how I get on. Best regards, Dave
  19. Hi Dave, Welcome to the forum and Jag ownership, cleary you are a man of good taste having bought the best looking model in the modern range. I say that as I found myself oggling my S-Type this evening - just as the sun was starting to set, must have been there about five minutes :o :D Anyway, happy motoring, Dave
  20. Hi Robert, welcome to the forum and Jag ownership. :D Best regards, Dave
  21. Hi Dave, welcome to the forum you lucky so-n-so, brand new XF, I like the sound of the colour, you'll have to post some pictures to make the rest of us drool with envy. I hope you have as much of a solid experience with the XF as you did with the outgoing S :D Best regards, Dave
  22. Hi David, welcome to the forum and Jag ownership. Hope to see some photos. Best regards, Dave
  23. Hi Craig, welcome to the forum. Totally agree with your approach to driving, admittedly I'm exercising the horses mor than taking it easy :D, as you say, why didn't I do this much sooner. Hope to see some pictures of your car posted, Best regards, Dave
  24. Hi Martin, welcome to the club and future Jag ownership. I've had mine just over a year now and should have bought one sooner - as Burl said until you drive one you have a false impression of them. Unfortunately mine's not as economic as the model you seek, I have a V8 Sport and when pushed you see the fuel gauge immediately change :o but I wouldn't change it for anything at the mo :D Best regards, Dave
  25. Hi Simon, welcome to the club and Jag ownership, your car looks mint, I don't think you can go wrong with silver. Best regards, Dave
