    If you have no warnings on the dash and the car is running correctly then putting it on a diagnostic machine is pointless. Simply maintain the car correctly and enjoy.

  4. You need the icarsoft LR2 at least, purely as you have the BMS on the battery. They are fabulous bits of kit though if you do get one, get it from a reputable dealer like diagnostic world.

  7. As far as I know, if the phone is original to the car then you only need insert a SIM card and it should be operational.
  8. Have a look in the vehicles security settings via the infotainment screen, it should tell you why the alarm is going off. Maybe a door lock microswitch is slow to react, a code reader will also help.
  9. Front or back ? A code reader will tell you which is defective.

  12. It’s always worth checking with Jaguar first, I’ve been pleasantly surprised on numerous occasions. At least you will know you have a genuine, fully working part.
  13. I would be checking the condition of the ground points behind the headlights, these are known to fail. They may look ok but corrode from the inside out, show them a spanner and they fall apart. It could be that the jolt has dislodged one.
  14. Just to be clear, is this the light on the boot lid or the one that fits into the wing. The one for the bootlid is less than £200 from Jaguar, not sure on the big one. As for repairing them, it can be done though you may be better finding an electronics repair firm to do it for you.
  15. Properly maintained, they are very reliable cars. If you are referring to the x350 then yes, they are alooominium though the subframes front and rear are steel.
  16. You could try a suitable lubricant but the only way to sort it is to replace it with a new locking mechanism. Common problem on XF’s unfortunately.

  18. It would be fairly difficult I should think as the computer would need to know it is fitted and then have the pathways for alarm indications. Not impossible to do but financially not viable to retrofit I would suspect.
  19. I was referring to the as fitted one from Jaguar that are fitted to the negative terminal of the battery on 2009MY car’s onwards. Cars with this system fitted should not charge direct to the battery as the BMS can be damaged leading to fault lights on the dashboard.
  20. As your car does not have the BMS (battery Monitoring system) then yes, you can connect direct to the battery to charge it. It is advisable though to connect the negative of the charger to a suitable ground point close to the battery.
  21. I’d be very surprised if it was the column. More likely to be steering fluid or the steering joints.

    Sounds like one of the ignition relays is sticking and not allowing the car to shut down properly. A competent sparky should be able to locate the problem.
  23. Sounds like you’ve tripped the immobiliser. Disconnect the battery again and leave it for about 10 minutes. As it is cranking, check the inertia switch hasn’t tripped. After 10 minutes, reconnect and try again assuming the battery is good of course.
  24. If it’s as baked on as you say then even oven cleaner won’t shift it. 10 minutes with the drill, job done.
  25. What you need is one of those rotary brass wire brushes that fit into an electric drill. You then need a small rotary polishing mop with metal polish and away you go.
