  1. Hello, I came back to my car to find someone had parked about a foot away from my drivers door. Now, I admit I'm fat and over 70, but there's no way I can climb over from the passenger side to get to the driver seat. So, is there any way I can release car to push it back/forward from the passenger side? Thanks.
  2. Hello, A couple of times, over the last few weeks, I started my car and tried to turn the selector to drive, but it wouldn't turn. I tried 'jiggling' it, and nothing worked until I'd stopped and started the engine a few times when It finally freed and turned properly. Is there a simple fix for this or am I looking at buying a new unit *Shudder* ?
  3. Thank you one and all, yes the answer was in the touchscreen, and all is now as it was. My excuse is that I'm not use to clever cars, the onboard computer on my last car was an abacus. Regards LB
  4. HI. The doors lock normally with a click, according to my manual, double clicking stops them from being opened from the inside. I don't know if that's true because I've never tried open it from the inside. My trouble is unlocking the doors, one click does not unlock any door, it takes two. And this has only happened recently.
  5. Hi. I don't know if this helps, but I had this window problem a couple of years ago in a different car, but it was simply a build-up of gung in the window channels. A quick clean out with a screwdriver wrapped with a piece of cloth and the a quick blast with WD40 and all was well. The gearbox people I use recommend an oil change at 60,000 miles. Regards LB
  6. Hello, Recently I've had to unlock my car by clicking twice. After the first 'click' the lights flash and there is a quirt clunk but the doors are still locked, it's only after a second 'click' when the lights flash again and there's a louder 'thunk' that the doors open. this has only been happening in the past couple of weeks. Has Anyone any ideas? Or have I done something silly by accident to make it like this? Regards LB
  7. Hi, I had this problem with my drivers door seal. After a lot of searching I found a used replacement from Belgium on Ebay. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived and fitted perfectly in a few minutes.
  8. P.S. it's 3lt Diesel.
  9. Hi Brian and welcome. I've have a high mileage 2011 XF (pre upgrade). Apart from getting the gearbox oil changed as soon as I bought it (there was no mention of it in the service history), I've had no real problems with it, it's passed the MOT every time with no problems, a service at the time is the only time it's been in a garage. I had a problem with the fuel gauge, which, told in another post, took me a Youtube video and about 45 minutes to fix, a fob battery warning which turned out to be the battery on th spare fob, and a thermostat leak which luckily happened during a service so was repaired at cost. Going by my car only, I can only whole heartily recommend it. I hope this helps. Regards Phil
  10. Hi. I had this problem, but a quick look on Youtube found a video about a connector in the fuel tank. Under the back seat is the cover for the tank, I undid this and underneath, just hanging there, was a connector, I cleaned this , gave it a quick spray with contact cleaner, re attached in reverse order, and job done, back in for a cuppa in about 45 minutes. That was about two years ago and have not had a problem since (touch wood!!).
  11. Well, it seems like you were right. I changed the battery in my wifes key fob and I've not had a warning sice. Thanks for the advice.
  12. I had mine changed at Gloucester Road Gearboxes, Bristol. They recommend that gearbox oil should be changed every 60,000 miles.
  13. Thanks for that. I'm using Duracell batteries, but the second fob is a good idea, my wife usually carries it in her hand bag. Thanks for that.
  14. Hi, Recently the 'low battery' warning for my key fob has displayed intermittently. I've changed the battery three times in the last two months, but it still appears. This message doesn't appear every time, and if it does I switch the car off and on again and it's usually gone. Any ideas would be appreciated. Regards LB
  15. Close, other side of the river, Pill.
