Thank you all. Most helpful. I think it's time for a new battery. I've been putting it off but it is the ORIGINAL JLR battery (now 5 years old!)

Can anyone tell me how much current is drawn when the car is parked? I know that the alarm system needs to be on, but are there other systems stealing battery power? I now only use my car once a week and am receiving low battery warnings although it starts robustly.

I have this message come up often. I only use the car once a week and the car is fitted with the original JLR battery (4 years old). I had the battery tested and it reports 67% healthy. The engine turns over with no problems but the auto stop/start needs the battery charge to be at least 80 per cent. I will hold off from getting a new battery until late Autumn (before the cold weather strikes).

Can I install ANY make of 019 AGM battery in my XF Prestige 2017? When I look at the AA, RAC, KwikFit or Halfords websites they recommend batteries costing around £200. I can get cheaper ones on eBay (Exide or Bosch) at around £130.

Someone needs to sneak him some Novichok.

In an earlier post I mentioned that my 2017 XF Prestige was showing "low battery voltage". I assumed that it was because I have only been doing short trips. I decided to run it up to KwikFit ten miles away for a battery check. They reported that the battery was OK. However, today I checked the voltage with a plug-in digital voltmeter before starting the engine and it read 10.9 volts. When I started the engine it went up to 14 volts. This is the original JLR battery, so I think it needs replacing. My question is how can KwikFit say it's OK? Wouldn't they jump at the chance to sell me a new battery? So they must have thought it was OK! I'm not sure how they load test the battery.

Thank you all for the advice. Unfortunately I cannot park outside my house, so charging by running it is all I can do. Today I gave it a good long run, so I shall have to bite the bullet and waste good diesel.

I only use my 2017 Jag XF diesel a couple of times a week. Lately when I start it up I get the message "Battery voltage low. Start engine immediately". I don't want to be stuck somewhere unable to start it. My question is how low is the battery when this mesage appears? If I can start it tomorrow I will thrash it for a good half hour.

I pumped up all the tyres well over the recommended pressure and then let out the surplus air. Re-started the car - all warnings cleared.

I had this warning pop up and I topped up the pressure. When I started the car the front left low pressure warning disappeared, but I can't get rid of the "check all tyres" warning. Will this go away by driving or does the system somehow know that I haven't put air into the other tyres?

If your car is equipped with "Stop Start" you MUST use an AGM battery.

I'm happy to say that the problem is fixed at no cost to me!

Mine opens fully if there is nothing (shopping bags etc) that could rub against it. However the spring setting is marginal, so sometimes I have to give it a little nudge and hope that nobody sees me do it!. If the spring were to be too strong it could be dangerous.

Thanks for that, but the issue goes deeper. I found that when my local tyre fitter put in the TPMS sensors there were only rubber valves in the tyres. It seems that the previous owner was aware of a fault that couldn't be cleared by replacing the sensors and had resorted to putting in rubber valves, resetting the system and carefully driving to the dealer at under 30 mph to prevent the system detecting the fault. That's why the fault only showed up when the car was driven down the M6 by the delivery driver. The dealer now promises to do whatever is needed, even if the whole car needs reprogramming.
