  1. I always use and recommend Pirelli. Cheers , John
  2. Charles I bought a MS 7 because it can also be used as a tender to start a flat battery. I believe the MS 10 also has the same ability but is dearer than the MS 10. I also bought an adapter (again from CTEK) to install in the boot of my S-Type so as I do not need to keep connecting the CTEK to the battery. The battery connections are left permanently in place. CTEX have a good video on their own website and all of the products are listed and priced as well. No, you do not need to remove the battery. With the adapter CTEK have available it literally takes two minutes to connect and have the battery on charge. Well worth the investment in my opinion. Best Wishes and Regards, John
  3. I personally believe the water pump and belt should be done, on the basis of assuring that it hopefully does not need doing in the future. "Belt and Braces" maybe, but could also be "First spend is the cheapest spend", or "Better safe than sorry". Best Wishes and Regards, John
  4. Mark Fortunately my problem was/is restricted to Bank 1. Every thing is still working well at the moment, having done some 500 miles now with no re-occurrence. Fingers well and truly crossed. Best Wishes and Regards, John
  5. Have we given up on this challenge ??????????????????????? Cheers, John
  6. Nick Welcome to the club/forum and the potential expense of running Jaguars. Best Wishes and Regards, John
  7. Charles Welcome to the club/forum. As for electrical/battery problems, these are Jaguars and you will soon grasp that they are charge hungry. Parasitic drain is very common and you will need to keep your battery in good condition and well charged. The popular piece of equipment is a CTEK MS 7 0r MS 10, Charger/Re-conditioner. I put my S-Type on a CTEK MS 7 as often as I can and certainly at least once per month. It really does stop a lot of unnecessary yellow light and messages that are only generated because of low battery charge. Well worth the investment and effort to keep battery in good condition and charge. Best Wishes and Regards, John
  8. Thank you. Hopefully now sorted. Took readings from both Lambda Sensors on my diagnostics and the graph views showed a major difference between up and down stream sensors. Swopped the upstream (NEW) sensor for the old removed one and the graph readings came in line. Have since done some 400 miles without any codes showing. Fingers crossed. I will keep the crankcase breather in mind for the future. However, it would seem odd to me that there was a problem on the breather as I would expect that to have an affect on both Engine Banks, not just Bank 1. Many thanks and Regards, John
  9. I agree with Tomato. Any supplier / dealer will try their best to avoid having to pay. Just be polite, firm and determined with them. Best Wishes , John
  10. If it has ONLY done it the once I would not react in any fashion as long as it reset with turning ignition off. That has happened with my S-Type and reset by turning ignition off cured it on the occasion. You are dealing with Jaguar electronics so do not be surprised at some occasional false/negative readings. This will be especially true if the battery charge is not kept well up at all times, they seem to be prone to suffering with Parasitic discharge. I have a CTEK MS 7 (charger/restorer) that I use at least one per month, if not more, for at least 24 hrs, if not longer. It keeps the battery well charged and seems to protect from too many yellow lights or warnings. The CTEK is very popular amongst owners on this Forum and well worth the investment. I still stand by what I said about not accepting filled/sealed for life transmission fluids. My personal approach at 86K miles would be to change the transmission fluid, that is of course assuming that there is no service history/proof that it has been done at an earlier mileage. Best Wishes and Regards, John
  11. Charlotte Good luck and hoping for the best. If not you are going to be in for a major expense. It has been revealed on this forum that others with F Pace engines having to be replaced have had some good results from Jaguar Customer Service. Best Wishes and Regards, John
  12. Stuart Welcome. Good luck with finding the car of your choice. Best Wishes and Regards, John
  13. Barry I do not know what mileage your car has done. If the transmission is showing any signs of not working correctly I would personally change the transmission fluid (or have it changed). My S-type has only done 64,00 miles from new but transmission fluids/filter etc, were change at 60,000 miles. I find it rather hard (being a Dinosaur of 72 years of age) to accept that a transmission unit can be sealed for life ???????. Surely the change of fluid is going to depend upon how/what/where etc, etc, the car is used for. Best Wishes and Regards, John

  16. Barry P0781 OBD-II Trouble Code: 1-2 Shift Malfunction https://www.yourmechanic.com › Articles P0781 code mean there is an detected problem within the 1-2 shift function often due too internal blockages or failed transmission parts. Regards, John
  17. Charlotte Best that you thoroughly read the above experiences and then deal direct with Jaguar Dealer (or ultimately Jaguar directly) in a calm, firm and polite manner to start with. If it becomes necessary you will have to ramp up your mode of approach and quote any relevant consumer laws as appropriate. I am not aware of any warranty / guarantee that you have from the selling dealer and you have not stated how long ago you purchased the car. I believe all of this will become very relevant in any negotiations over who is paying for what. Good Luck and Best Wishes . Regards John.
