  1. Barry I do not know what mileage your car has done. If the transmission is showing any signs of not working correctly I would personally change the transmission fluid (or have it changed). My S-type has only done 64,00 miles from new but transmission fluids/filter etc, were change at 60,000 miles. I find it rather hard (being a Dinosaur of 72 years of age) to accept that a transmission unit can be sealed for life ???????. Surely the change of fluid is going to depend upon how/what/where etc, etc, the car is used for. Best Wishes and Regards, John

  4. Barry P0781 OBD-II Trouble Code: 1-2 Shift Malfunction https://www.yourmechanic.com › Articles P0781 code mean there is an detected problem within the 1-2 shift function often due too internal blockages or failed transmission parts. Regards, John
  5. Charlotte Best that you thoroughly read the above experiences and then deal direct with Jaguar Dealer (or ultimately Jaguar directly) in a calm, firm and polite manner to start with. If it becomes necessary you will have to ramp up your mode of approach and quote any relevant consumer laws as appropriate. I am not aware of any warranty / guarantee that you have from the selling dealer and you have not stated how long ago you purchased the car. I believe all of this will become very relevant in any negotiations over who is paying for what. Good Luck and Best Wishes . Regards John.
  6. Garry It may look good and if you feel it does, then do it. After all it is your car and your choice. Regards, John
  7. Halfords sell a full kit to do the re-gas job yourself. They will also do the job for you while you wait. Best Wishes and Regards, John
  8. Jerry I do not go along with long term transmission fluid. Personally my S-type Sport, 2.5 was done at 60,000 miles. As for DPF, I in my opinion do not feel DPF regenerations are that expensive. Admittedly "expensive" is a subjective issue. You seem to think a lot of your Jaguar (as I am mine) and I would not think of selling my car. It has done 66, 000 miles form new and I recently had to replace Catalytic Converter which had died due to a misfire I had, also at the same time fitted all new plugs, all new Ignition coils, new Lambda sensors and new inlet manifold gaskets. The total cost me around £1200, which I did not feel was expensive. As for getting your money back. Yes used cars did rise in value, mainly due to certain new models not being available. Having a son in law who is a sales manager at a main agent, I am informed that the price of used cars has peaked and is now dropping again. Surely your decision has to be based on being able to afford to buy a new car along with any desire you have to keep your X Type which plainly you think a lot of. Good luck with the decision and Best Wishes, Regards, John
  9. Garry Sorry to disappoint. I am one of the old codgers that promotes original. The XF did not have a "leaper" and certainly not black. I will not even fit one to my S-Type because they were not fitted as original and that is how I attempt to keep my S-Type Sport. Best Wishes and Regards, John
  10. Ross Did you report the dead battery to the dealer and ask him to replace it as the car was sold to you as having a new battery. Parasitic drain is quite a well known problem with Jaguars. The best approach to it is to purchase and buy a CTEK MS 7 or 10. Being a very well used charger and re-conditioner by many Jaguar owners. I have an MS 7 and use it very regularly for a minimum of 24 hours , often longer, when ever I am not using the car. It does seem to be the answer to the problem and solves many of the yellow warnings and codes that readily appear once the battery gets slightly low. Best Wishes and Regards, John
  11. Paul I am a great believer in oil / filter changes every 12 months, all be it my S-Type only does around 5,000 miles per annum. I always use a premium grade oil of the specific Jaguar recommendation. Best Wishes, John
  12. Welcome to the club/forum. Best Wishes and Regards, John
  13. Paul Fabulous looking camera and housing. Good photos as well. Do you know if these are made for the S-Type. Regards, John
  14. Totally agree that you should not be paying for anything after only a month. I would also be surprised if the warranty company will support any claim in under a month of the car being sold by a dealer. If you can get no satisfaction to cover all of the costs from the seller/dealer then I would be inclined to tell him that you you want him to accept the car being returned to him and that you want your full money refunded. He will have, under consumer law, to comply with either fixing everything, at his cost, or accept the return and refund on the car. Unless of course you purchased under an agreement (the likes of E.G. "a Trade Sale") and you were aware of that/those factors on purchase. Good Luck, Best Wishes and Regards, John

  21. Brian Welcome to the Forum/Club. I take the point you make about gaining a X150, but boy Primrose is certainly the more iconic carriage. Best Wishes and Regards, John
  22. Likewise.
  23. Somewhat surprised at how few members of this Forum/Club attended this event. There were hundreds of Jaguars on display and it was a great day for weather being sunny and really warm all day long. Best Wishes and Regards , John
  24. Darren Unless you really do want a so called upgraded car that has had items done that are not really provable, I would agree with walking away from the "bastardised" car. I would also not want to take the risk of heavy fines, or even having the car impounded, due to DPF removal etc. Best Wishes and Regards, John
